If you visit Swansea, you have to check out the fresh food stalls in Swansea market. I've long been fond of the fish stalls, in particular because the produce is always so lovely and fresh. On my most recent visit, the fruit and veg stalls had some real bargains. It's a wonderful place for any foodie to spend a couple of hours.
If you feel like a treat, there are a variety of takeaway stalls situated around a central eating area, which means that a group can eat and enjoy a variety of cuisines together. If one of you fancies a burger, and another a curry, it works out great. I particularly like the Thai food stand, simply because the food there is delicious, but I'm sure every regular to the market has their own favourite. The choice available ranges from worthy modern vegan right through to traditional Welsh dishes cooked fresh on the premises that day.
There are also useful stalls not to be found elsewhere in Swansea, such as a good shoe repair place, a haberdashery and dress alterations spot, and a passport photo and printing stall.

Read moreThis is a go to place for good local service and produce. Everyone of the stall/shop owners and staff are friendly and approachable. Its an Excellent for finding local knowledge and guidance. The market stalls/shop owners are good for sustainable living and can encourage you to bring your own Tupperware/Jars/bags for anything you buy. Just make sure everything is clean so they can put your items in.

Accessible toilets are available but you do need to wait sometimes. Finally it does get extremely cold during winter and when raining the floors are slippery.
I love the market as it is better for me than the big supermarkets. Swansea Market is...
Read moreOriginally from Pontypool Gwent I worked in Swansea in 1972. Catching the bus from Dunvant I walked through the market to Castle Street. The smell of good food was as good as it is today. The Market is full of happiness with many bargains. During this extremely cold snap it seemed impossible to purchase a plain material man's fleece (warm/easy to dry during the hike in energy prices). Found a fleece for a man with wolves as a picture in the texture. The man wearing it says he just cannot resist wearingl it - warm/cosy! Yes a visit to Swansea Market is a must, you will not be disappointed. Ate for the first time in one of the cafes in the market - delicious! Well done...
