As a previous employee of this company I strongly advise you not to go here for drinks or food. The owner is old fashioned and stuck in her ways and Scott young treats his staff horrendously and is a rude, vile aggressive man. several other ex employees I've spoken with have all had the same complaints that he is rude, aggressive and lacks compassion and people skills that are required in such a role... the general cleanliness of the establishment behind the scenes is disgusting the ife machine has black mold which Is clearly months old... unbranded spirits poured into premium spirit bottles to charge a premium, pre mixes of egg white cocktails left out at room temperature and these are just a few of the things I witnessed in my short time working at the establishment... there's a lot more behind the scenes this place needs closing down and re opening under new management it's a really shame to see something in the heart of Truro gl so downhill and also to treat its local staff in such a way. So once again avoid this place if you wish to have a good cocktail head to On The Rocks, Lawrence's or vertigo where you will have a better, cleaner, more value for money experience rather than the dirty, overpriced, rude mannings which chooses to continue to put the profit margin above customer and staff satisfaction.

Absolutely first class dining every time I eat here. I adore Mannings restaurant and their cocktails are amazing. The staff are all wonderful and I would highly recommend to anyone. Consider that most pub food costs a minimum of £13 per meal or almost £20 for a steak, Mannings is only a few pounds more for their cheapest meals on their menus and the food and service is leaps ahead of anywhere else I've been. If you love dining out and haven't tried here then please do because you're in for a real treat 😍 our starter on the occasion I took this photos, was the tempura king prawns, main was the chef's own take on beef wellington (phenomenal) and desert was chocolate lava cake. Their menu does change seasonally too so always new things to try too.

Took our Dad to Manning's for his 80th last Saturday night and wasn't disappointed. Wow. Absolutely stunning restaurant at this hotel. The food was outstanding. If I could afford to eat here each week I would. Haha. Friendly funny staff made us feel at home and kept the drinks coming. Right in the centre of Truro Cornwall this place can't be missed.

We are a local family who have enjoyed many a delicious meal on specials occasions. The shock that we had today was horrific and I can only describe the experience as a complete disgrace on every level.

On arriving, the restaurant was freezing which matched the frosty reception from the staff. What has previously been a fantastic menu with a delicious array of steaks and Asian fusion was far from the small pickings on offer today. There was nothing of inspiration on offer including a fish and chips and burger which was abysmal when it arrived. When ordering drinks the waitress couldn’t leave the table fast enough… before all the drinks had been ordered.

The poor service continued when our main course cutlery was place in-front of us before our starter plates had been removed. When we requested another bottle of wine, we were given a ‘new’ bottle which had been half drunk before it arrived at our table…. Simply unforgivable.

When ordering the steak frites, we asked for it to be cooked medium, to which we were told the only options were medium rare or well done…. So we ordered 2 medium rare. Well when they arrived the first was more than well done and extremely chewy. After they served the second (when the table had finished their main courses) the steak was a perfect rare….. how 2 identical meals could be so different and 20minutes apart is beyond me.

At the end it seemed only right to inform the management of the extremely disappointing experience when we have known and loved the restaurant for so many years. Such a shame to see one of the best restaurants in Truro fall so far...

2nd time here. Food is lovely, worth spending few extra pounds though like someone has reviewed, drinks are bit pricey. I spoke to manager in 2nd time visit about service that we have felt rushed throughout the dinner so much so that they came with bill when we were not finished or had asked for the bill. We wanted to pay the bill after we finished our drinks but staff came with the machine. It’s not that we were over staying. We were well within our 2 hours slot and more so there were many empty tables around. Front of house staff overlook on essentials like all tables had water and we didn’t so had to ask, no spoon with the dessert, had to ask.. got a big spoon for a small goblet of dessert. He apologised and gave some explanation and that was that. Would someone not offer something for inconvenience, a discount on next meal or some gesture? After all it’s a well established business. I was reading other reviews after this and there is one from a staff who worked there. Quite a scary one. So not sure if we would go back. It is such a pity as we want food industry to do well in...
