Hayden's Chip Shop — Local services in Isle of Wight

Outstanding service and great food!! We came across this place from a google search while on holiday. We have an multi allergy toddler and there was also 15 of us in total and it was 20 mins before the chippy was due to close. The lady could not go any more out of her way to ensure my toddler had a yummy meal that was totally safe for her while cooking all fresh tasty food for the rest of us and even gave her a snack box to munch while she waited as she was hungry and tired so very restless waiting. I’ve never had such a fantastic response with dealing with allergies or having a big order. We went back a second time and was served by a male who also followed the same level of service and care. The food was very decent potions and very reasonable priced. We could definitely do with this chippy teaching some of our mainland chippys how things should be done. Huge thanks to them both! We will hopefully be back some time...

When a local chippy is this busy, and the staff seem to know the customers, then you know you're onto a winner. Seems to be a chippy that does things differently, offering seemingly something for everyone and then some! So many combo offers, burgers, and whatever a 'sombrero' is (am curious to know...other than just being a hat...involves nachos...). Ordered chips and battered sausages for the family and a great deal on cod and chips for the missus (as was a large order expected a bit of a wait..but wan't held up for too long). Chips were great, very generous portions, and have never had battered sausage in a lightly seasoned tempura style batter before, which has now made me a convert, loved it. Parking wasn't too much of an issue, and there's also a local shop across the road should you need other bits'n'bobs if in the area. Was camping locally, so will keep this place in the list next...

We came from Shanklin specifically to try Hayden's as we saw a post on Facebook yesterday about all the Gluten Free options they do. Mum had GF Cod and Chips, and she said its the best Fish and Chips she's ever had even when she could eat 'Normal food' many years ago. I had GF Battered Sausage and Chips, Oh my God it was stunning, there is no other way to describe it!!! The food Portions were huge, and excellent value for money. They even offer GF vinegar as well. We're just gutted they're not closer to Totland so we can have it more frequently! Service was fantastic, they explained when I ordered that there would be a 15 min wait as they only have the 1 fryer for Gf, honestly 15 mins to wait is nothing anyway and 100% worth the small wait, 100% recommended!!
