From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special. The warm, inviting atmosphere set the perfect tone for a leisurely Sunday lunch. The service was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive, and every member of the staff made us feel genuinely welcome.

Now, the food—absolutely phenomenal. The roast was cooked to perfection: tender, flavorful, and paired with the most heavenly gravy I’ve ever tasted. The Yorkshire puddings were golden and crisp, the vegetables were fresh and perfectly seasoned, and the potatoes? Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside—pure bliss.

I've since deleted my comment. I'm not too proud to admit when I've made a mistake, and this time the mistake is entirely mine. As a result I've adjusted my review to try and add a positive to my negative review.

While I could blame the difficulty it is to get solid information on the COVID guidelines it's not good of me to knee-jerk react and post a negative view that could help negatively affect a business when others have to adhere to the same guidelines. And for that, I sincerely apologise.

The number of times I had to walk past The Solent on our recent holiday without going in doesn't bear thinking about. It looked like such a warm vibrant place that I made it my holiday mission to pay this pub a visit. We came late afternoon so probably not as vibrant as it undoubtedly would have been later, but we enjoyed this friendly welcoming place nonetheless.
