JAN 24 My friends and I came to take on The Haunting, one of Breakout Liverpool’s newest rooms.
There’s an advisory note about bringing under-16s, but it’s not scary in the slightest. This was actually a bit of a disappointment as I like to book rooms that give us all a bit of a jump.
The puzzles were straightforward- we only needed a couple of small, visual-related hints. A pre-game torch check wouldn’t have gone amiss.
My team of 5 broke out with 20 minutes to spare. Take fewer people for more of a challenge. Our host was friendly!

I came here on my birthday to play a four-room marathon!
Spellbound, Warped, The Heist and Outbreak were the games we played. In terms of room decoration/furnishings, Spellbound’s wizarding classroom as well as Outbreak’s zombie-apocalypse-corner-shop really stood out. You can tell a lot of work has been put into them to make it an immersive experience.
Generally, we escaped with about 10 minutes to spare each time. They were all rated four-star difficulty apart from The Heist, which was easier. Our Game Operator for that one said he would provide less clues to make it more of a challenge, which was a good idea. The puzzles consistently fitted in with each room’s story.
The two Megs/Jack T/En/Dani were all lovely, hospitable humans who made us feel welcome throughout the whole day.
I think I’ve done all the other rooms at Manchester as some are duplicates, but should I be in Liverpool again, I’d definitely go back to play...
Read moreI took my girlfriend for her birthday in which we tried the facility room and we have certainly now caught the bug.
When entering.
When you enter breakout Liverpool someone is usually there to show you through to the waiting area where there are small puzzles waiting dotted around the room there is also locks to one side I would suggest doing a few and certainly checking out the locks as they come in handy later on in the rooms.
The staff.
The staff where lovely and friendly and as the game maker are very helpful and funny as well, our game maker was funny easily likeable and was helpful at the points needed during the game when we really were stuck.
The room
The room was amazing and with a spooky atmosphere.
The Game
You just lost, but no seriously I'm not going to tell you as you have to experience it yourself!
Overall.
For our first room it was an amazing experience and the two of us managed to get out with 27 seconds to spare which was brilliant the puzzles where fun but difficult and certainly gave the brain a good workout I would suggest going here with friends if your looking for a good time that will leave you...
Read moreI absolutely love an escape room, and this place is brilliant. Each room has a theme and story line (complete with costumes if you so wish), and the descriptions on the website give enough information to entice you without giving anything away. The room operators are friendly, helpful and very reassuring, and I particularly like their creativity when coming up with clues during play - they always fit to the theme in a riddle format. The price is reasonable for an escape room at £19 per person, and you get 1 hour to escape the room. Another nice touch is the puzzles to play whilst waiting for your room, and the test locks to try out before entering so that you know how to operate them. There is a door release button so that you can leave at any time if need be. Each room is rated 1-5 stars in difficulty, and I think these ratings are fairly accurate, depending on the ability of you and your teammates. Booking in advance is required, and rooms can hold teams of 2-5 people. Solve puzzles, riddles, clues and unlock things to escape. Very fun for a range of ages. New rooms are added every so often, so you can keep coming back...
