We stayed at this property for 2 nights during the half-term break. Having worked at various Hilton properties there is a certain standard expected, in the hotel and in particular the room. Upon arrival to the hotel we were greeted accordingly and checked in. Check in was not busy we were the only ones checking in. I mention this because instead of the receptionist engaging with me and providing me with information about the hotel I was given a piece of paper and told everything is on there!! Once we entered our room we were greeted by a stand up electric heater!! With no note advising the reason for this. There where things missing in the room which is found in all hotels such as a vanity bathroom mirror (the round ones that retract from the wall). In addition to this there was also no sanitary liner holders which is placed on the wall. The room did not feel clean to me at all. The first night we ate in the hotel restaurant. The inroom dining suggests scanning the QR code to make a reservation in the restaurant, however after many tries the QR code does not work and should either be removed or fixed. We had to call down to reception to make a reservation. Once we arrived at the restaurant we were not greeted, we were asked where we want to sit, which wasn't pleasant. I had already decided what I wanted to eat whilst on our room, we placed our food order and then 10 minutes later the server approached our table to inform me they didn't have the dish I had ordered with a lack of apology. I then ordered the fish and chips which states the fish is cod. Once we received our food I started eating the fish and noticed the fish I was served was not cod and infact pollock. (I am not a meat eater and only eat fish so as a family we can taste the difference). I informed the waiter and was laughed at and told the fish is infact cod!! I advised I would not be able to eat it as it tasted vile. They replaced my order of which I went for a pizza which was very blaaaa to say the least, which consisted of an excessive amount of cheese. The bill came to just under £40 for two meals and two drinks, the service was not nice and neither was the food. I chose to stay in this Doubletree by Hilton in particular due to its grand interior which did not disappoint, however with our room not being up to standard and the poor restaurant experience this is not a property I would recommend to others. However I must say the location was fantastic and was close to all amenities and attractions.

The worst experience I’ve had in a hotel. Terrible customer service, really cold rooms dark and dingy with many things that needed fixed. Served almost raw poached eggs in a plate of water that came after I’d finished my breakfast. I felt that I was treated very badly for complaining about my room. I left to go sightseeing and was called by the same awful receptionist to come back and get our things… so we did and stayed at the Premier Inn down the docks which was really nice, great breckie and good customer service, we told the receptionist about the double tree experience so she gave us a room with a view… Im unnable to upload the actual video of our room but the bathroom was falling apart and we were given two small radiators to warm the room as the heating was broken… I was informed thst this was illegal and also to find reception from your room was a nightmare, if there was a fire many people would die in thst hotel due to poor layout and signs. There was only one staff member Christian who brought me room service thst was nice although he had to come three times to deliver all three items I ordered… food drinks and toothbrush drinks came later and the toothbrush after that so it seemed pretty under staffed and the staff were very miserable no smiles you can tell people arnt happy there. The breakfast wasn’t good, scruffy no plates or cups rubbish left on the counters I could go on and on… oh and the bath when you drained it brought up sewage leaving hairs and dead insects… we didn’t get a refund so I’m going to the small claims court to recover the rest. The funny thing was when I saw the first room I said can we leave they said we can’t get a refund if we do even though the room wasn’t up to scratch. Then the next day they kicked us out refunding the night we didn’t stay with them and no more. The only time the receptionist said sorry was when the boss was watching. There’s plenty other hotels in Liverpool to stay in and this will be the most expensive dump to stay in and they will break the law and put your well-being at risk ie two radiators and no signs to get out of the building which is like a maze very scary… they showed no empathy for my disability also!! None!!

Stopped here for two nights as my cousin was getting married at the hotel. Checked in by the manager, no recognition of diamond status until the end of the process, when he said “breakfast is free as you are a diamond member”. Asked if any status upgrade, advised no as the hotel was completely fully booked. Another member of staff had to run after me with the welcome letter, despite it being in front of the manager whilst he was doing the check in. Checked the Hilton app when I got to my room, and rooms available on every category. Called reception, told it was a mistake (hmm) and upgraded to the next room category. Air conditioning was awful, complained around 5 or 6 times, I was told it was working, then told it was too hot outside for it to work, then told it was on cooling mode not air con mode. Maintenance guy came up to the room, said he’d go investigate and come back, never saw him again. I got fed up of asking in the end, as I kept on being told “it will be ok on one hour”. My immediate family had booked 3 rooms and all had the same problem. My cousin had a suite, same problem, and the two people checking out before me had the same problem. When it’s 28 degrees and a real feel of +30 degrees, you really do expect to have a comfortable nights sleep with air con, especially as the hotel advertises this. Sadly it was only working in the lobby and bar, and we all had two terrible nights sleep. I was given 8 vouchers in the welcome letter pack for free drinks at the hotel bar. I tried to use them on the first evening and the hotel bar manager told me they can only be used for soft drinks or water. On the second evening, after buying a couple of rounds of drinks was I told that they can be used for house alcoholic drinks, and this was confirmed at check out when I complained. So I had 8 vouchers, and used two for a couple of glasses of lemonade vs close to £100 being spent at the bar. Rooms are nice, but decor is a bit scruffy in parts. Bath had loads of scuffs, coffee stains where the kettle was, mildew in the shower. I would give one star but the breakfast was nice, which earns a second star.

So, my boyfriend booked me a nights stay and spa treatment for my birthday, in which we recently stayed. Upon arrival the staff were lovely, we were greeted by a blonde lady who was very nice and happy! Easy check in, and was gifted warm welcome cookies which was nice. We got to our room, the room wasn’t bad, it was generally clean and had what you needed for a short stay. Although I will say it was very dated. The tv had no signal for a majority of the time, not many channels ect, the floor needed a good Hoover, as I sat infront of the large mirror as you come in to get ready I could see all hair on the floor and just dirt really. The facility’s such as ironing board/hairdryer were very cheap, the hairdryer smelt like burning when in use, and the cupboards could do with a lick of paint. Things like hairdryers ect wouldn’t usually be expected to be amazing quality in hotels anyways but as it’s a high end chain and expensive hotel in general you’d think they’d atleast provide higher quality products for what they charge as it is. We had a massage each booked which I couldn’t fault! It was lovely, and could tell the staff put a lot of work in. The staff in there were amazing! Very attentive, positive attitudes, and just all round helpful. We then had time in the thermal pool which was also lovely, only con would be the size of the changing rooms, when I arrived the changing rooms were the size of an ensuite which were full, some girls had to wait outside until there was space. Later on the evening we had a meal which was included in our stay through our voucher, which you only have to pay what isn’t covered. There was no atmosphere at all, which makes it really. There was only us and another table in there the whole night, once ordering, the food came out quite promptly in which the starters were ok, but nothing to rave about, the mains were pub grub quality, perhaps less than. What bothered me was no one came over to do a check back the whole time to see if we were even enjoying our food which wouldn’t have been hard as there were 2 tables… we didn’t even eat half our mains as they weren’t good and no one cared to ask, we then had to go up to the bar ourselves to ask for another drink.. and had to go up to pay as no one cleared our plates. What topped it off was the lady that was running the restaurant, I think her accent was Irish? So be wary if she serves you😂 Rude isn’t a strong enough word. She was on her phone the majority of the time behind the bar, hence no service or check backs, had a face on her like she was being forced to be there😂 and when paying she wouldn’t look us in the face just stared at the ceiling and shoved the card machine at us. From working in hospitality previously myself, I can easily say she won’t get very far. No manors at all, how she got that job I don’t know. We did complain to 2 members of staff which were lovely again and couldn’t apologise enough. The next day we checked out and left our bags as we went for lunch out, again the staff there were lovely and attentive, in return for our bad experience gave us free parking which was lovely. Overall our experience wasn’t all bad, but I would say if your abit of a younger crowd I wouldn’t recommend, I have stayed in nicer with more updated facilities & up to...

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED. My mum booked 3 nights here for my birthday, the first holiday away I’ve had in 2 years. We set out from Northern Ireland at 5.30am (I finished work 11pm the previous night) when we arrived everything was okay, they kept our bags until check in, and we came back at 3pm to check in where we were informed that the restaurant (where we planned to eat that night) would not be open, this was not advertised on the website of Expedia where we booked. I wanted to lie down to try and get a little bit of sleep before dinner. I was awoke at 5ish to absurdly loud live music. I accepted it was early in the evening and moved on. Due to our plan to eat at the restaurant we were unable to find anywhere that had availability to get dinner, after an hour of walking we got a take away and sat and ate it on the street. We then returned to the hotel at around 9pm where we thought we would have a few drinks in the bar, we got one drink then we’re informed the bar was closing at 9.30pm. We decided to call it a night and came back to our room which seems to have the air con stuck to blast freezing cold air and no heat, only to be greeted from the lift on the 5th floor landing with aggressively loud live music. It appeared there was some kind of function happening directly opposite our room, it almost felt like the room was vibrating. My mum went to speak with reception, a little annoyed at this point by the previous events and disappointments so far and was advised the music would only on for another hour.. this was just after 9.30pm. 11pm came and the music was still louder than ever. We contacted reception again only to be told the music would be continuing to 1AM. We asked if we could be moved rooms, this was refused, we asked to speak with a manager previously, but they never came to see us and then we were told they had now left for the night and would pick the issue up in the morning. They stated there was nothing else they could do. It is now 12AM, I’m lying in bed with a migraine setting in, feeling unwell and very upset about the whole situation and very sleep deprived writing this review. This hotel is misleading people with false advertising, advertising amenities that are not available. They are taking advantage of people by not informing them of events being held in the hotel that are a noise disturbance until the early hours yet happily taking peoples money and refusing any sort of help, compensation or solution. We are not part of this event or function, but we are placed in a room directly oppose it and the noise is so loud we feel like we are in the function room. There really are no words for me to describe how disgusting I am. I wish there was an option to upload a video as we have videos of our room and how loud the noise is. Please do not...
