EDIT IN RESPONSE TO MGT REPLY: Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. It's a shame that all your replies to negative reviews appear to be somewhat passive aggressive and try to discredit the reviewer - it comes across rather childish. Perhaps if you took a less defensive position you may find constructive criticism that could actually help you to improve in areas. (BTW, all issues that we had during our lunch regarding the food were mentioned to your staff at the time).
I booked the fire pit table on the rooftop for myself and 3 friends. At the point of booking it tells me that there is a £150 min spend for this table. No worries. I’m then text a couple of days before my booking to remind me of the min spend. Again no worries. We arrive and we’re greeted at the front door and reminded of the min spend. Again. We’re then shown up to our table and told yet again about the min spend. Jeez. Then it’s insisted that we pay the £150.00 minimum spend up front which I think is super strange and quite frankly by this point we’re all feeling a really weird vibe about the place. Only after we’ve paid this are we then given drinks menus and we’re able to order some cocktails. Service for these was slow. Only the limited BBQ menu is served on the rooftop. We didn’t mind as the food sounded tasty. However, food also was slow and all our meals weren’t served together. We had mostly eaten our mains before we had to ask where the rest of our food was. By the time this was served we had to eat our sides separately as we’d finished our mains. Food was very bland, very small, under seasoned and a particularly bad one was the tofu and veg skewers (aubergine was completely raw and tofu tasted of absolutely nothing). The king prawns came with shell on but nothing to clean your fingers on, no bowl of water or anything. Had to ask for something and it took about 10 mins to be presented with a tiny bowl of water i assume they usually use for dipping sauces, by which point I’d gave up waiting and had to use my napkin. We had ordered another round of cocktails but they never arrived so we cancelled our order and left asap. Whilst the rooftop is nice for a cocktail I definitely wouldn’t eat here again. Staff were nice enough but the whole experience was very underwhelming, over priced and I felt they banged on about the minimum spend way too much, creating an unpleasant impression before we’d even sat down. In a nutshell it over promises and under delivers and is all style with no substance. Shame as we...
Read moreWe arrived to our booked table for the Christmas set menu on time, and we’re sat at a table right at the end nearest to a door which was wide open, we may as well have been sitting outside. the first round of food didn’t come until an hour later, the nibbles were fine, but when the starters begun to come out things went wrong. Previously to the night they had called and asked us to fill in a form regarding allergies, to which we obliged, 2 people with a shellfish allergy and 1 peanut allergy. The first thing they did was put shellfish down in front of somebody with an allergy, they didn’t check or prepare for this. The waitress left the food there until a manager came over to correct, by which time everybody else had finished their food.
The main course was EXTREMELY bland, the carrots weren’t “honey glazed” and were rock hard, as were the potatoes. The chicken and fish were both unseasoned and the gravy tasted like bisto. One of our table found a huge bone in her chicken breast and it was extremely underwhelming especially considering the cost per head.
The theme of the night continued, when a round of drinks was ordered and somebody was served vodka, despite specifically asking just for a Diet Coke (the person does not consume alcohol-this kind of mistake can be extremely dangerous).
Service was very slow, three hours into our evening we still hadn’t been served all of our food. The manager came to ask me for the table back because she had a booking. I expressed my concern and how unhappy I was with being told to give the table up despite not having all we had paid for.
The dessert arrived half an hour later, with one member of the table who had a peanut allergy-having a panic attack because she was scared she may have a reaction to it after two people being given things they were allergic to/specifically choose to stay away from. When I raised this with a waitress, the first thing she said to me was “another problem?”
I spoke again to a manager and he said he would “do something” and sent somebody over with a bill with £56 knocked off. This was not enough to even cover a round of drinks. They also did not take the £160 deposit we paid off the total, so really we were overcharged by £100+ for a shockingly poor evening. But by this point we all just wanted to go, so we paid up and left.
I don’t think any of us will return to this establishment, the magic tricks were fun-but the rest of it was...
Read moreThe atmosphere was good, the drinks were good, and the music selection was good, but the security guard's attitude was enough to ruin my whole night and make me never want to come back to this place. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I know. I didn't expect him to treat me extremely politely, but he could have just spoken in an appropriate way. After he checked my ID, he threw my ID card to the floor and told me I could come inside the bar. After he threw my ID card, he pointed at it, indicating that I should pick it up and come in. I looked at him for a moment as I did not expect such a behavior just literally said, "I am not your dad, mate," which is also not the kind of response you'd expect from staff, and there was no particular reason for it. I just wanted to avoid ruining my friends' mood, so I ignored his attitude and went into the bar. I actually liked the place in terms of drinks, music, and atmosphere. As we were leaving the bar, he just stared at me, so I politely asked why he threw my ID. Then he just asked me why I was asking and started cursing repeatedly and heavily for no reason. I didn't respond, and as I started walking away, he continued cursing at me and laughing with his colleagues. Without exaggeration, he was the rudest, meanest, most aggressive security guard with the least anger control. The most annoying thing was that I didn't cause any trouble at all, and I didn't use any offensive language either, I just literally did not respond. He just started being aggressive for no reason at all. There was absolutely no reason for him to treat me that way, so I couldn't understand why he treated me like this. I don't think any responsible person will take my problem seriously and contact me, as there was no reason for him to treat me that way. I mean, if he thought treating a customer in that way was not allowed, he wouldn't have treated me in that way. He could have treated me that way if he thought it wasn't allowed to talk to a customer in that manner, or maybe treating guests like that is the norm at this bar. But I can clearly say to those who want to spend time here: don't even talk to the security guards, as it seems they have the ultimate authority to treat people however they want, and they throw IDs if they don't like...
