My wife and I recently had the pleasure of attending a sushi-making class at Atsuko's Kitchen in London, and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish!

From the moment we walked in, Atsuko greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel right at home. The ambiance in the kitchen was inviting and had a charming, traditional Japanese feel.

Atsuko herself was a fantastic instructor. Her passion for sushi-making was evident in her every move and word. She guided us through the art of crafting sushi with precision and grace. We learned the secrets of perfect sushi rice, the intricacies of slicing fish, and the fine art of rolling sushi. Atsuko's expertise and patience were invaluable, and she made sure we felt comfortable and confident in our sushi-making skills.

The ingredients provided were of the highest quality, and we appreciated the emphasis on using fresh, locally sourced produce. Atsuko's dedication to using sustainable ingredients added an extra layer of depth to the experience.

The highlight, of course, was getting to enjoy the sushi we had created. Each bite was a burst of flavors and textures, and it was incredibly satisfying to see how our skills had evolved during the class.

Overall, Atsuko's Kitchen delivered an unforgettable experience. It was not just a cooking class; it was a cultural journey and a chance to connect with the art of Japanese cuisine. We left with not only full bellies but also a new appreciation for sushi-making.

We highly recommend Atsuko's Kitchen to anyone looking for a hands-on, fun, and informative sushi-making experience in London. Whether you're a sushi enthusiast or a complete novice, this class will leave you with lasting memories and the ability to create your own delicious sushi at home.

Thank you, Atsuko, for such a wonderful day. We can't wait to return and learn even more from...

For Christmas, I booked a private cooking class with Atsuko as a gift for my partner. We arrived on a beautiful, sunlit spring morning to her kitchen on Columbia Road. Nestled on the top floor of a Victorian terrace, the space was awash with natural light streaming in from both street- and rear-facing windows. Every element of the kitchen had been thoughtfully and tastefully curated, blending functionality with quiet elegance.

Atsuko welcomed us with a warm smile and a gentle, inviting manner. We had arranged to learn how to make a variety of sushi and gyoza. After donning our aprons, she walked us through the ingredients we’d be using, offering insightful tips for sourcing our own – did you know there are four key indicators of a fish’s freshness?

All the equipment provided was spotless and of exceptional quality. Atsuko guided us through each step with care and clarity, as we chatted and got to know each other better. Time slipped by, punctuated by laughter and the steady accumulation of culinary knowledge. At the end, we sat down at her long dining table to enjoy the fruits of our labour: beautifully made sushi, followed by gyoza fresh from the pan. There was more than enough to take home.

Atsuko is one of those rare individuals who’s travelled halfway across the world to share her deep-rooted passion. Having spent many years in the UK, she also knows the best local suppliers to help you recreate authentic Japanese...

An engaging afternoon with the brilliant Atsuko who made us sushi pros in no time. The masterclass was held in a meticulously clean and organised kitchen with the freshest ingredients to make the sushi. Very important for a food type activity!

There was no pressure to be an expert in anything and the way we were taught all things sushi (shopping, ingredients, prepping, equipment) was interesting, entertaining and helpful.

This top class course was great value for money and if you never made sushi again, it would still be an entirely worthwhile experience. You learn skills you never knew you had, meet lots of interesting course mates and get to eat 5 types of delicious sushi you made by yourself at the end.

We are grateful to have such an amazing teacher. Atsuko signed the cookery book we got and has inspired us to look at other ways to experience other cuisines. Her fusion recipes are so creative.

助けてくれてありがとうAtsuko and your 'Ninja Assistant' for a wonderful day.

Hopefully we come again for a different...

Atsuko's cooking classes are engaging, well-organised, intimate, and hands-on. It's a testament to Atsuko that many of the students in our class had attended 2 or 3 of her prior classes and had come back for more. We attended the Kyushu regional cuisine class, which introduced us to delicious and unique dishes that you'd struggle to find in the best Japanese restaurants in London. Ever wanted to learn to make a dish that was commissioned by the 6th Hosokawa feudal lord of Kumamoto? Atsuko has got you covered! At the end of the evening, we were rewarded with a satisfying (and filling) meal comprised of all the dishes we had cooked. Highly recommend Atsuko's Kitchen . 10/10.
