A Fun & Delicious Experience! 🍫
If you’re a chocolate lover or looking for a unique, hands-on experience in chocolate making, MyChocolate Classes in Shoreditch is a fantastic choice! It’s a fun, interactive session where you learn, create, and, most importantly, taste delicious chocolates.
The class was well-organised and engaging, and the instructor made it an absolute blast! He was funny, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable, taking the time to guide us through each step of the process. We started with a brief introduction to chocolate-making, learning about differene types of chocolate and tempering techniques before diving into the hands-on experience.
Our chocolate came pre-tempered but we go to create truffles, and decorate them with a variety of toppings, making the session both creative and fun. The best part? We got to take home everything we made! The instructors also shared fascinating chocolate history and fun facts, making the class feel like a fully immersive experience rather than just a workshop.
Upon arrival, we queued outside before being registered at the door, and once inside, the venue had a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, making it a great activity for groups.
One detail I really appreciated was how well they catered for everything—they provided gift boxes, bags, and even wrapping materials, so if you wanted to present your handmade chocolates as a gift, you could! A thoughtful touch that made the experience even better.
The only small critique is that it would have been nice to have a little more time for decorating, but overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I left with a box full of delicious, handmade chocolates.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun, indulgent, and creative experience in...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting MyChocolate with a group of other bloggers and participate in one of their chocolate making workshops. After a bit of a faff getting there (I ended up at their previous premises in Chancery Lane rather than their shiny new location overlooking Regent’s Canal) I made it just in the nick of time.
The workbenches were laid out with everything we would need from utensils to decorations and even some tasters to nibble on. Davis was our host for the morning, full of interesting facts and very funny to boot which helped us all feel at ease. He started out by having us test some different kinds of chocolate and determine the flavours and also which was the higher quality. He then went through the process of making truffles with us (one part cream to two parts melted chocolate in case you were wondering) and gave us an impressive demonstration. Then it was over to us to replicate his efforts – ha! Davis had made it look so very easy and it really wasn’t! The mixture sets very quickly so you have to knead it to keep it workable.
Once we had managed to squeeze out enough of those each it was time for the fun bit – dip and decorate! This was definitely the messiest bit and I ended up with chocolate on my forehead while others had it all over their clothing too. I think you’ll agree chocolate making is a lot more work than you would expect it to be but totally worth the effort too. We were even given little golden boxes to take our chocolates home in which really gave it that...
Read moreWent on one of the Virgin Media experiences for a chocolate making workshop for two. Although it was somewhat fun, it wasn't exactly mind blowing for several reasons.
Firstly, this is not a chocolate 'making' workshop. Well I didn't get to 'make' any chocolate. You just get given chocolate in pots and then you style it into shapes. As we had tried different types of flavoured chocolate the studio had made, I thought we would be able to make flavoured chocolate at the very least. We got to stick bits of honeycomb and coconut curls to it and that was it. We also only got 20 minutes at the very end so it wasn't even enough time for most people to make everything without rushing. It was just talking the rest of the time.
Secondly, and I can't speak for all staff here, but the actual lesson was as if it was directed at a bunch of 10 year olds. All the jokes seemed to revolve around the seeming uncontrollable urge to quaff all of the chocolate in the vicinity. I'm not really one for patronising humour, but I'm sure if you have an uber giggly cadburys-loving mum then perhaps it's fine.
I did expect something more refined to be honest, as I've been on cooking experiences before where we've made many beautiful chocolate desserts for a similar price to this course. Then again, I didn't pay...
