If you are have a learning difficulty then go here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hi my name is Richard im 28, a former student rep for Westminster Kingsway College and i have just finished an access to adult education course, and well, it has been interesting to say the least.
There has been a number of ups and downs but over all this is a good college. one or two issues though:
The college is TOUGH !! REALLY TOUGH, especially on the A level and Btech students, if you want to study at the college there is no messing around, they operate on a ZERO TOLERANCE of nonsense. "this is not a social club this is an educational establishment"..............you may think im joking.... but they employ people known as student ambassadors (FUN POLICE , more like). if you don't want to learn then don't even bother applying, but if you do then you are in the right place.
They have a gym, canteen and other facilitates, the gym is a bit small and the canteen, well don't expect a discount you would be better off eating at the mcds around the corner it alot cheaper.
All negatives out the way, I would like to say that one of the collegeâs most notable features is the assisted learning support or (ALS), this department is comprised of around 25 staff members who contribute to one of the most progressive and comprehensive learning support departments in central London. "i say this because i have been in and out of ALS departments all my life and a swear these are the best"
The department has a wide verity of qualified staff that can cater for an even wider range of issues. The learner support offered, can range from a hand in study skills for people who are re-entering education, to care and guidance for students with (ASD) and other learning disabilities.
"i think that if i had this support the first time around i would have a nice house by now"
They also helped me get assessed and through a little bit of self motivated research i found that the gov is will to give educational centers alot of money towards supporting my study. This is great and i feel that if the ALS department were to grow, it would flourish and could even become a further education assisted college.
one thing to note if English is not your first langue there is not much support for you...
Read moreDoes this place even deserve one star? Nope but itâs the lowest that I can give it. Save yourself and donât go to this absolute joke and nightmare of a college. It will literally ruin your life, like it did for me. Worst college Iâve ever been to in my life. All of the staff are extremely rude and so are most of the students. Itâs extremely unorganised and I knew it was since the very first open evening that I went to a year ago. I spent a whole 6 hours enrolling at this horrible college when it shouldâve taken about 30 minutes at most, people were extremely rude since then even before I started actually going there. I donât know how I lasted at this place for over a year but everyday was an absolute nightmare, I couldnât even have one decent day. Teachers are extremely rude and are always in a bad mood and let it out on you, they never teach you anything theyâre just always angry all the time before youâve even walked into the classroom. The level of unorganisation is unreal, Iâve never seen a place be so unorganised until I came to west king. We had clashing lessons with chemistry and physics for 7 months and told the teachers about it since the first day of the time table change and yet they still blamed us for missing one lesson to be in the other, they never fixed our time table issue. Just save yourself and donât go this college, it will make you become extremely behind in your education and youâll have to repeat, almost all students are re-take...
Read moreI want to share my experience as someone who went here in 2019. I only lasted a month here before I left. Please read the reviews and donât waste your time and life at this place. Itâs like they take in any student that applies, most people are not there to learn and act too street inside the building. There are also many people that think too highly of themselves like theyâre super smart.
The only study area was literally in between the class rooms (in the middle of the entire building, itâs an open building) and there were probably about 15 seats in every floor. Ironically it was called the silent area and there was nothing silent about it. If you wanted to study somewhere quiet you had to reserve a place in the library which was usually already too crowded.
I lived very far away, and when I came off the train one day after a 1 hour+ journey I found the teacher had texted the class to say that she wouldnât be in and that we will be sent work. They donât even take into consideration most people do not live nearby.
There was a man that did A-level politics (idk if heâs still there), all he did was talk. It was like at some point you have to stop talking. He would always connect the topics to strange facts that have nothing to do with the syllabus and I really had a strong urge to leave the class. It was boring and I couldnât learn anything.
I have MANY more things to share but I think...
