We've been here a couple of times in the summer however today, a very rainy day, was awful. We were a group of three. At diametrically ends of the long tables were the usual laptop users, some with a hot beverage and others with a glass of water to last their work shift. It was obvious we were a group of three who wanted to eat together for lunch but nobody moved. No-one even thought, 'Oh you're a group looking to have lunch, I'll budge along so I'm opposite the other laptop addict and let you have space together'. But no, we wended up with two of us at one end of the table and the other person isolated diagonally opposite because of the self-entitled, unaware, selfish and rude individuals 'owning' the space. We ate in relative silence occasionally repeating dialogue across the table between our intransigent self-obsessed table grabbers. My partner would not eat because she felt so uncomfortable with the situation so they lost out on a sale. Sort out the tables! Make some of them laptop free at least! A very bad experience. Badly managed. Bad...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery bizarre. Lovely place, nice chill vibe, staff are friendly... but I've never seen staff continue to just slowly stack saucers and organise knives and forks with no real first priority for the large queue that's developing. It wasn't busy in there at all, so there wasn't really a need to avoided greeting customers due to any 'rush'. Perhaps another member of staff needed? Also the Bacon bap took 20 minutes. It's nice the vibe in here is chill, and I believe no members of staff should be under high end pressure, but like with any service paid for, there should be some element of attentiveness - not to mention I can make a bacon bap in half the time at home. The "would you like to add service charge %" on the card machine was just the tipping point - c'mon, if you're having a lazy morning, it's common sense to avoid the tip sell up.
As far as bacon baps go though, it was very tasty.
First impressions are everything. The service sets the tone. Food later. Hope this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally wanted to love this cafe but unfortunately I canāt recommend at all. My friend is coeliac and so before we go out to eat we have to research as most places donāt do many gluten free options, so weād gone out of our way to come to this cafe for breakfast over other places as most of the things on the menu say āGFOā. About 20 minutes after ordering we were told they had run out of GF bread so would give my friend extra salad instead. 25 minutes later (45 minutes after ordering) our food finally arrived. Iāve attached a picture of my friendās breakfast because I was so shocked at what she ended up paying Ā£8 and waiting 45 minutes for. Appreciate it got busy shortly after we arrived but 45 minutes for 2 bits of bacon, a scrambled egg and half a tomato is excessive. Someone couldāve gone to the shop and got some GF bread...
