Hackney Housing — Local services in London

Awful!!!! I am 8 months pregnant. They haven’t helped me find another place even though I live in a bedsit. I have inadequate heating. An ongoing leak in my bathroom, second hand smoke infiltrating my home through the vent, and low hot water pressure. After complaining then have been nothing but nonchalant and even sent an officer to do an audit in me to ensure I was the correct tenant. To top it off I am now without hot water and they are making me wait for over a week to have this resolved even though I am 8 months pregnant and unable to wash properly. I have called and called and emailed and emailed just to be treated like I am a bother and gaslit consistently. I have lived in hackney most of my life, but they treat us like trash whilst ensuring those with money are kept sweet. There are rats and foxes roaming the estate in broad daylight, over grown weeds, filth and general disrepair everywhere. Sad sad...

Those huge shiny buildings are a huge waste of taxpayer's money. Largely understaffed and overworked, crowded with people they cannot help and needless paperwork. Getting there and differentiating between the different subtypes of buildings is annoying and counterintuitive, a few obvious signs would help, the staff was understandably (can't blame them I'd be upset too) unhelpful and apathetic. I kept being told to go from one department to another over a very small simple issue. I can only imagine what it's like for those who are elderly or disabled, having to navigate all this beaurocracy and unergonomic overpriced buildings. I received a red letter stating I’ve not paid my council tax although I’m on a payment plan plus I pay my arrangements on the 1st each month. Called them to sort it out and 1) they keep you on hold for ages, 2) you manage to get through, explain the issues and then they hang up on you. Not only with Council Tax but with Parking as well. All these staff they got working from home (still!!) aint taking the job seriously and truly don’t care.
