My "Peck Peck" experience, near Hackney Central Station, was so satisfying that I feel obligated to write this review.
I love fried chicken, and I'm always on the look-out for a genuine competitor to KFC. When I say competitor, I'm talking about a rival to the delectable (as we all know KFC is often a horrendous place to visit), whereas alternative chicken shops have, up until 14:00 this Easter Sunday, for me at least, tended to be hugely disappointing.
I was feeling hungry, after a few whiskies the night before, and had my heart was set on some friend chicken. I had, therefore, decided to endure KFC to satisfy this urge (we've all been there right?). As I walked past Hackney Central Station, I could see, in the distance, my objective; Hackney Central KFC, which seemed to have a small queue outside... not what one whats on a glaringly bright Spring day, feeling slightly hungover.
Before crossing the road, as I walked passed the train station, I glanced to my right and noticed a smart little shop unit called 'Peck Peck' a vendor of fried chicken.
Rather than commit to a borish, but heavenly, KFC I decided to look more closely and, as I did so, my enthusiasm grew.
As I approached, the exterior which greeted me was smart, clean and shrouded a simple menu giving me the choice of chicken; buttermilk thighs, wings, boneless etc. Drawn by this point, I slid my mask across my face, entered the premises, and promptly ordered 5 pieces of boneless chicken and fries.
It came to about £7.50 which is a bit less than a KFC for the equivalent meal size HOWEVER, I watched each piece of chicken be prepared in front of me. The Chef, as we're all used to seeing, did not pluck my meal from a prepared selection of meat that had been mouldering away in a warming oven. No, instead it was garnished, fried and wrapped in front of me.
Having seen enough, I started doom scrolling through my phone and within my 5-7 minutes my order was complete.
When I got back to my hotel room, I realised that my order contained an unknown quantity; the Fries. I had, of course, ordered these, but did not see them prepared.
Ladies and Gentleman, whilst plating up, I absent mindidly selected a handful of French Fries and placed them in my mouth... I could not believe the taste that greeted me! Alongside the meticulous preparation of chicken, 'Peck Peck' provide you with fresh, made on the premises, French Fries which are gorgeous.
For a little over £7, I had been given a chicken meal that stands out as the best I've ever had. What makes this review even more relevent, is that I am totally objective, and am staying in Hackney for one week only, purely as a result of work commitments.
I enjoy fried chicken, I enjoy eating out generally and have a lot experience to compare this to. 'Peck Peck' is a small business however, if I were a Hackney local, I would be doing my utmost to spread the word, to ensure the prosperity of this lovely little, but high quality, eatery
I'm in Hackney for another 6 days and intend to try everything on the 'Peck Peck' Menu.
People of Hackney, you have a gem in your midst; enjoy it and ensure its success. Forget KFC - 'Peck Peck' will noprovide you with chicken that will take your...

Food was great but only critique I can give was as that our burgers came without the sides for 3min and as a chef myself whom worked from honest burgers, fallow, hawksmoor, Dorchester and now a headchef at a prominent contract catering sector I can safety say that the burgers should have stayed at the hot pass which was free of space and wait until the sides were ready to bring the order.
I may be a bit absurd on this matter but 30 years in the industry has taught me some habits which I believe any reputable restaurant should follow these basic guidelines, I understand there was only one front of house and she was amazing, juggling takeaway, delivery and customer orders. I'm proud of this female front of house staff and she should be assisted in some form of manner.
I had to give the burgers back and entailed the staffs that this should stay at the hot lass ( heat lamp area) until sides are ready, another few min pass and the sides were ready.
Server apologised as one in the service industry is unfortunately droned over and totally understand the situation.
It was not very busy inside restaurant but the delivero orders were piling up.
The burgers were remade and everything came out hot as it should be, I am giving it 5 stars besides the slight hiccup.
Tipped the server as she did an amazing job with such little or no other help from the 4 people in the kitchen, 2 should float around front of house, bar and takeaways orders but what do I know, 2 successful business, an experience in many of renowned restaurants and now cater to over 1,300 people daily with only 9 chefs at hand.
I digress, and peck peck is a great chicken institution, next time I go back there I will politely ask if all what over ordered come st the same time.
Delicious and spicy, would recommend and only 55quid...

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu offered a variety of chicken burger options that catered to every taste preference, from classic to adventurous.
I opted for their signature chicken burger, and I was blown away. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The combination of fresh, crisp and a special sauce made every bite a delightful experience. The burger was served on a brioche bun that added a nice touch of sweetness and texture.
The service was impeccable, with a friendly and attentive staff that made sure my dining experience was top-notch. They were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to offer recommendations.
To complement my meal, I tried their real crispy fries, which were perfectly seasoned and incredibly addictive. Everything were the perfect way to wash down the meal, and the variety of flavors was a pleasant surprise.
