I have to change my review to a positive one. My (now husband) after months of searching finally found the sapphire I wanted at this store.

This was not any easy task as I wanted a very specific peacock sapphire that was both blue and green. The one he found was beautiful. It changes in different lighting which is what makes it so special. It's hue is vibrant,it sparkles and the colour saturation covers the entire jewel.

It is the perfect size and shape and I can only say that it is perfect. Obviously we had spent a lot of time and many days researching and visiting every single shop in Hatton garden but Holt's was the only store that eventually delivered.

I wasn't there when my husband found the stone. However this was one of the first stores we visited although at the time my sapphire wasn't available.

My initial impression wasn't not good as I felt that we were brushed aside, however I am very glad my husband came back as I can't imagine wearing a different sapphire now that I have this one.

My husband got the ring in another store but it looks better than I could have imagined. I especially like the fact that he designed it specially for me.

Hatton garden caters towards diamonds predominantly but there are a few stores that offer gemstones and Holt's is one of them. I would say however that you should start you search early and know what you are looking for (I didn't originally know what I wanted) and be prepared to wait for the right one as it can take time to source the right stone.

I can't speak highly enough of Holts - for either service or for their beautiful jewellery. We recently bought my engagement ring there, having previously bought some lovely pearl earrings from them. We were helped mainly by Lily who's utterly outstanding, but I've heard of similarly superb service from others at Holts. With any purchase the actual process is really important (not just the outcome) but I think this applies especially to jewellery which is so personal - and this is where Holts really excel. Nothing is too much trouble; they are welcoming and friendly without being pushy, they're not at all stuffy, and you feel as if you have all the time you need to make the right decision without feeling rushed. They make the whole process such a lovely and really special experience, taking real care and pride in their work and genuinely wanting you to be delighted with your jewellery. This was vastly different from our experience of some of the other shops on Hatton Garden which we found in some cases to be variously rude/stuffy/overbearing/pushy/disinterested. But I should hate my raving about their service to distract from the beauty of their jewellery: my ring (which we had made from a stone that we saw in their window) is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS - so unusual and quite unlike anything we had seen anywhere else on Hatton Gardens.
