Prufrock is one of my absolute favorite cafes in the world. The atmosphere and interior design is just perfect, the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly, the coffee is second to none, the food is VERY good, pastries are superb đđź Itâs a little bit pricey for sure, but feels special every time â¤ď¸
Coffee ⢠What can I say⌠itâs as good as it gets. One thing that I think sets Prufrock apart - aside from the incredible quality - is the VARIETY. ⢠You can enjoy so many different coffees here on any given day. Ranging from their espresso blends or single origin; they usually always have 3 different filter coffees available at different price points, along with a decaf option. ⢠Theyâll often also have something you can sample on batch brew. ⢠I do wish there was a batch brew option that I could simply purchase to bring the cost down when coming regularly. ⢠Also for retail, there variety is even greater. Coming here is a great way to discover new roasters and coffees!
Food ⢠The food is excellent! Iâve tried the âBennyâ (Eggs Benedict) with the bacon and salmon - both are absolutely to die for. Iâve also had their toast which is very nice. ⢠Pastries are incredible! The cinnamon buns are just ridiculous 𤤠The almond croissants are beautifully done. Iâm a big fan of Kouign-amanns and itâs lovely to see them sold here!
Atmosphere & Interior ⢠I just love the interior design and overall vibe here. There is a nice variety of tables, ranging from window bars, high tables, single tables, and a couple of large booths. ⢠The bathroom is nice, clean, and pleasant. ⢠It does get busy but they have a nice system where the staff will seat you and they do a great job of keeping things in order. ⢠Note that there is no Wi-Fi and for me with EE there is pretty poor service. But they do allow people to work from the cafe which is nice â¨
Price ⢠Thereâs no question that things are a bit pricey. But I think this is a place that doesnât hide that and you know youâre getting what you pay for. ⢠Itâs not just about the quality of the coffee and food, itâs also the table service and very well coordinated system they have. Itâs how they handle your ordering and paying experience very smoothly. Itâs how kind, friendly, knowledgeable, and well-trained all the staff are.
As I mentioned earlier, my only wish regarding price was having a batch brew on sale and perhaps even a special refill price for batch brew.
Overall I just love this place and all the people who make it what it is. Thank you...
Read moreFound this place thanks to a quick look at the area on Google maps. The street it's located in looked deserted and I was sceptical about what I'll find here. However, it was as if I entered a different world once I approached the cafe - it was attracting a lot of people at that time of the day (late lunch) and it was packed. That being a good sign, I am always apprehensive of a crowded place so was in two mins about moving to another cafe down the street but something about the place made me walk in and all is they had a seat. The place is decent sized with plenty of seating but was buzzing with the afternoon crowd and the only seat I was offered was a counter stool facing the street which I liked. There are a couple of tables on the pavement as well for people to soak in the sun with their lunch/coffee/pastry. What makes a place outstanding is the people who run it and this cafe was a good example of it. The staff were full of energy and positive vibes managing the crowds pretty well with a smile on their face. I ordered a coffee and was slightly underwhelmed with the sweet treats on offer as I was ready for a big slice of cake which was not available on the counter. I opted for the tempting coconut almond cake and watched the baristas tirelessly make cup after cup of good coffee as the orders came in with the same amount of energy the wait staff demonstrated. The coffee and cake was brought to my seat quickly and they both met expectations. Coffee was just right and the cake was fresh, moist and packed with coconut and almond flavours and I finished every crumb of it. Enjoyed my time there and watching the steady stream of customers entering and leaving the place satisfied, I was pretty sure this place will remain a hit with the people. I'll definitely try the lunch menu next time as the food that I saw there on tables looked...
Read moreGood food, great specialty coffee and tea selection. Ultimately it is a cafÊ and although I can be nitpicky, the issues may be ignorable.
Their guest espresso was amazing, good acidity with some floral notes. They change it every ~3 days, which keeps things interesting. I had their cappuchino with the house blend, which was just nice. I was confused about their alt-milk choices. The drinks board implies they only have oat milk (not so clear in the image, but its under the Long Black), but they also do soy milk for a 50p upcharge. I also saw the barista pull out an oat+coconut milk, which was not on the menu. I believe they could state fully and clearly what is available on their drinks board to present to customers. I like that they also have a large tea selection and a specialty tea alongside their filter coffees.
Food was nice, nothing special. The poached eggs were nicely done and the hollandaise was alright, but the bread was untoasted or very poorly toasted. They have a good pastry selection (sadly no photo) on the pricier side. I had a guiness chocolate cake, which was slightly moist, dense, and had good frosting. I would recommend trying something from this section. I saw someone order a granola bowl and it looked awesome, may give this a try next time.
Staff are so friendly and service is exceptional with a smile on the face. I sat at the bar seating behind the barista counter and despite them being packed and busy with takeaway orders, the barista still found a window of time to chat about the coffee. I liked this.
I had no issues with ordering, you order up front, they keep a tab, and you pay at the end. I do like physical menus but they only have QR codes and email receipts, which I dislike. I didnt ask but im guessing they...
