I've looked long and far for a good Wing Chun school, and I'm glad my search landed me on Jaemie Gallie's one. Training with Jamies for the last 2 years has been a privilege; his constant quest to improve his Wing Chun, despite studying it for 20 years, is pure inspiration. He's the most open-minded Kung Fu teacher I know and constantly challenges himself and his students. My excitement for my training has grown exponentially over time as I've been feeling my Kung Fu growing stronger following his advise. His teaching method is very effective and has helped me develop solid foundations where I can further build on. Jaemie won't let you skip ahead if he doesn't believe you have these solid foundations. This is very important and not many teachers do this. That's part of Kung Fu training. No shortcuts! His style is informal yet assertive. He strikes the right balance. My Kung Fu brothers and sisters are also very committed to their training and the atmosphere is always fantastic at the school. Jaemie also introduces variety to our training, from some crazy intense 6h Saturday sessions once in a while, sessions purely focused on developing internal energy, seminars with other schools and visiting sifus and also advise on exercises we can work on outside of class. Can't recommend the school...
Read moreI have looked for good Wing Chun school in London for a while and Sifu Jamie's approach, how he explains it on the website, resonated with me.
I have trained several martial arts before, judo, aikido, tae knwon do, and I can say Sifu Jaemie Gallie is one of the best teachers I have met so far. He doesn't let his ego interfere with his martial art, although having so much experience he is still humble and very approachable, always striving to perfect himself and his students. Moreover he is patient when explaining techniques and drills, no matter if a student is complete beginner or experienced, always highlighting the key elements of a technique because small variation can make a huge difference.
The atmosphere in the school is great, everyone works hard to improve but it is still relaxed and fun. Everyone is friendly and will show you if you missed something. I think this is very important.
Finally although many martial arts can be shown in "theoretical" way where it all looks great but it cannot be applied in reality, this is not the case with Sifu Jaemie's school, here the approach is practical and can be applied in real life. Therefore I would highly recommend this school to anyone who really wants to...
Read moreBefore I started here, I spent a lot of time researching all the different Wing Chun schools in London. I was a bit nervous about starting a martial art and I wanted to make sure that I joined a school with a good teacher and a relatively safe environment.
Now, having been training here for the past four months, I know I’ve picked the best school in London~! The atmosphere is both comfortable and fun. Everyone is respectful and encouraging of each other, and it creates a wonderful environment where you can relax enough to shed your self-consciousness and really focus on what you’re learning.
All of which I think is because of our teacher Jaemie Gallie! He’s an excellent teacher, he’s very patient and dedicated, and every lesson feels like a step forward in terms of honing your skill and precision, even for a noodle-shaped novice like myself! I think he really values us a students because he works hard to provide extra training for us, like trips, workshops with Wing Chun experts and extra long training sessions.
I'm really enjoying my time here; so for anyone wanting to learn a martial art I’d most definitely recommend you join us. It’s hard-work, but so...
