Tasty curry, grumpy service. I've eaten here every week for the last 6 weeks for convenience as it's on my way home.
The inside is pleasant enough if a bit bland, but clean, nice sparkly cutlery, plates and fresh linen tableware. Good, varied menu including duck options and the plain naan is almost perfect, really light and crisp.
Service: There is a young, occasional waiter who is incredibly friendly, warm and welcoming. Unfortunately he isn't there all the time. There is one older, black haired waiter who is pretty friendly too.
Then we get to the two bearded waiters who look identical (the same barber I imagine). They will barely acknowledge you on arrival/departure and prefer to try to remember your order without writing it down. Last week he returned with a notepad to take it again, tonight I asked for naan and he brought pilau rice and instead of apologising, implied it was my fault. The naan arrived just as I had finished my main course so I had it bagged to take away.
The 4th waiter with black hair gave very good service and offered to remove it from the bill but I said I was happy to pay. He did then remove my starter as I returned half of it because the chicken was not cooked enough (despite grumpy number 1 insisting it was). So, I'm afraid I won't be returning here, however much I enjoyed the curry. With so many places to choose from, why would you bother going anywhere where you are greeted with indifference. Zero manners or friendliness from the brothers Grimm. Perhaps it's because...
Read moreVisiting London for the night and tried this place ONLY because it was nearby. First off, I have been eating Indian food all over the world for the past 45 years. Apart from limited customer service acknowledgement from the 2 staff, the single pappadam arrive huge and perfect. The usual condiments were fairly tasteless, the mint sauce and the chutney wasn’t anything to rave about. Next, the lamb tikka as an appetizer. It was PERFECT. Fabulous flavours and texture, in fact it was so delicious I ordered the lamb tikka masala as a curry. BIG mistake….the lamb became ordinary and the masala curry was bland and watery. Hardly any lamb but chunks of onions protruded from the dish. Their butter naan barely had any butter so I sent it back.
Bottom line, for an attractive restaurant it needs some major improvements with their curry dishes and for the love of God, they need to proof read their menu. Beer is NOT spelt “Beears” 🙄 Visit only if starving but not expecting much. I gave it 3 stars only because it was open and...
Read moreLifeless food, not worth the money or time. The food is boring and it comes in small portions, so making it overall more expensive than what it actually is. The waiters are pushy and even with an empty restaurant, do not take the time to make you feel comfortable -actually, last time we were almost told off over the phone as we were (literally) 5 minutes late with our reservation, only to find an empty restaurant when we arrived two minutes later. I was with a vegan party and the waiter kept insisting on us having chicken and lamb... he actually looked a bit desperate to get rid of it! No one commented at the moment on the food, but there were comments about watery beer and hungry faces when we left. Having the advantage of not having any other Indian restaurants within walking distance (at least not that I know), this place should be thriving with customers. Instead it looks as if the glory days were long gone and that certainly can be confirmed when you...
