Edit: RUDE OWNER/WORKERS - Don’t have a medical emergency here if you don’t want to be yelled at… I had originally loved this place, so i decided to bring my parents when we visited London. My mom has vertigo, and while we were waiting in the line, she started to feel dizzy like a vertigo attack was coming. She wanted to sit down for a couple min at an empty table. The server behind the counter (owner?) started yelling at her, saying that she cannot sit without food. I tried to explain she’ll just sit for a couple min, she’s feeling dizzy, but he kept yelling at us. She wasn’t able to stand yet walk anywhere else, so we were stuck. It was very humiliating since he kept yelling and yelling and everyone else just stared at us quietly, which made my mom’s condition worse.
Thankfully a stranger let us sit at their table, and since they already had food, the owner stopped yelling. The stranger even offered my mom some water and some bread. When my mom started to feel better, another waitress seeing her eat sarcastically said “oh you feel better already”. The owner and all the other workers were extremely rude and accused us of “taking advantage of the empty tables”. We had already been waiting in their line patiently for a while at that point, so no we hadn’t suddenly decided to take advantage of anything. NEVER AGAIN I will set foot in this place. Keeping my original review and pictures of how i FOOLISHLY thought this was a nice simple British breakfast place.
Original review:
I wanted to get a traditional English breakfast during my very first visit to London last week, and stumbled upon this place while searching online for a place not touristy and ridiculously priced, and I’m glad I did. Regency has the same atmosphere as a local diner in the US; nothing fancy, pretty simple cafe, good food and good prices.
I went on a weekday around 10am, and there was no line to get in, and service was pretty fast. I got the set breakfast deal with black pudding and bubble & squeak. I loved everything except black pudding, but that’s probably normal because black pudding is a uniquely weird delicacy :)
I would definitely recommend Regency if you’re looking for a simple, traditional English breakfast in a friendly atmosphere where you’re not being ripped off as a...
Read moreLocation I googled 'The Best Breakfast in London' and Regency Cafe would not fail to appear. I alighted at Pimlico Station and walk about 8 mins to Regency Cafe. It is located at a corner unit. I remember that it opens at 8am. After dining, I walked to the other end to take a double decker to Victoria Station to continue with my sightseeing at Buckingham Palace.
Setting I find it very fun and interesting to dine in this old setting. It has given me insights on how a cafe in the 50's or 60's would look like. The cafe is spacious and clean.
Service & Hospitality I said hello to the boss who was manning the cashier and taking the order. I told him that I had read many wonderful reviews about his cafe and he welcomed me warmly. I could feel his sense of joy upon hearing my comment. I went on a weekday morning and the cafe was almost full. There was a queue but it moved quickly and efficiently.
The food was served quickly. It came in hot plates which was such a thoughtful detail. For £5.50 (S$9.90), there was a fat sausage, two slices of bacon, two big half- tomato, a sunny egg, two slices of bread or toast, big cup of coffee or tea. The cappuccino which I had chosen had chocolate powder on top of the foam. It was hot, fresh and delicious. As for the bread, we choose from white bread or wholemeal bread. We could pay 90 pence (S$1.60) for three hash browns or black pudding. Butter was given with the toast. Marmite is payable.
All of the patrons were eating breakfast as I was there at 9am. I observed that most, if not all the diners were locals.
For a cafe which specialises in Full English Breakfast, I would say that they did it damn well. The food was of good quality and it was perfectly prepared. The hash browns were sooooo crispy and piping hot on the inside. It is one of the most satisfying meals I had in London.
I could not help but get business cards from the friendly boss so that I can recommend Regency Cafe who are going to London. I feel that I had experienced the British culture and heritage by dining at Regency Cafe. You are my Number 1 Cafe in London !

Read moreOne of the best experiences I've had in London! We arrived as a group of four at around 10:30 in the morning on a Wednesday and the line was just starting outside the front door. There was a man working alone behind the counter, taking orders and pouring drinks, while a woman walked through the restaurant clearing and cleaning tables for the next guests. Behind them, a well-oiled machine of kitchen staff was working to get all the food to our table within five minutes.
This might sound like a place focused on speed and quick bites, but quite the opposite. The man behind the counter shouted through the restaurant with more decibels than five megaphones connected to a subwoofer. At first, his loud voice might seem intimidating, but behind that loud voice is a man with a heart of gold. He took his time to speak personally to each individual guest, making me feel that he truly cares about his guests and values their presence.
He saw my parents standing behind me and kindly directed them to a table where they could already sit down while he took our order. In the line, there was a woman holding a newborn baby. He called her forward and took her order so she wouldn't have to stand for long and could sit down with her food right away. So much respect for this.
When taking the order, he also asks for your name so he can call you later to pick up your order from him. While you're sitting and enjoying your meal, you're busy for about 20 minutes. Meanwhile, the man helps another twenty people, and as soon as you get up to leave, he makes sure to greet you by calling your name through the restaurant and thanking you for coming. Some of my colleagues whom I work with 5 days in a week don't remember my name.
Because of this man alone, I would want to go back to Regency Cafe when I'm in London again. I would recommend Regency Cafe to every single soul...
