Conceived as a casual and more democratic alternative to the members only and jackets required cigar lounge downstairs by the Ritz Club, the new Ritz Cigar Bar is a welcome and much needed and welcome addition to cigar bars in London where you can have a civilized smoke indoors - as nature intended ... The location is unbeatable and you can enter the lounge from Piccadilly Road which allows you to avoid being given the once over by the all so proper doorman if you dared to walk through the hotels main entrance with anything less than a blazer. There is a small but more than adequate humidor and a room whose imperial yellow colour palette is potentially the owners grudging nod to the ever growing importance and affluence of their Chinese clientele; throw in the prominently framed Chinese Calligraphy denoting the hotels in name in Mandarin on the main wall of the cigar bar and you might well imagine how a well heeled cigar puffing Chinese oligarch who prefers wearing Plein to Kilgour may find this to be a very convivial room to be discussing his next multi billion dollar scheme.
White jacketed waiters discreetly serve you drinks and light your cigars and once in a while you might catch a glimpse of the hotels famous owners puffing quietly in corner by themselves. Cigars are well maintained and the cigar sommelier may gently persuade you to try the hotels house brand which isn’t bona fide Cuban but he claims smokes and tastes like exactly a Cohiba Behike...but remember this is England and there is no such thing as your money back if you aren’t satisfied policy at the legendary Ritz! Prices are steep but there is a price to pay for having the privilege of smoking at the Ritz if you cannot be bothered to dress...
Read moreWe work in the media industry and we've been all around the world, we smoked many cigars and visited many cigar lounges but I can truly say nothing comes close to the Ritz London quality. The Ritz own brand cigars are well crafted cigars, its like smoking a masterpiece. The staff ask you if you would like it in normal or V cut, we usually go with the normal cut but both cuts are based on preference. The staff professionally light the cigar without burning any edges of the cigars. The cigar has a very mild taste and a very smooth smoke. We had a very pleasant experience also thanks to the professional and great customer service staff. Thank you Simone, Lucca, Joe and Philippe for the great experience. First class guys with first class customer service. Definitely recommend the Ritz Cigar Lounge to anybody who wants to smoke good quality cigars and enjoy the spectacular customer service of the staff. Will definitely visit Ritz London more...
Read moreBe prepared to pay an eye-watering sum for even the cheapest cigars here, naturally. But quite worth it; there is no similar smoking experience in London, or anywhere else in Europe, as far as I know.
One thing I will say is that I was somewhat disheartened to find that customers were allowed in wearing jeans and t-shirts; a previous reviewer here remarked that there was a dress-code in effect, but it doesn't seem to have been enforced on the day of my visit. The last thing one wants is, after putting on his suit and tie, to be forced to share the space with persons who haven't made a similar - quite modest - effort.
There is an unlimited supply of top-notch coffee available, served in achingly pretty ware. One can also order from the famous bar, but the wine starts at around eighteen pounds by the glass. Still, nothing better than a good cigar but a good...
