Absolute shambles, when leaving the London Bridge City pier staff were fine with a family member who was using a wheelchair.
However when trying to get onto the boat to head home, staff had mixed messages on if a wheelchair user was allowed on. One staff member stated the family member could try with assistance walk onto the boat whilst the wheelchair was folded up and transferred onto the boat as it was "dangerous" to push the wheelchair uphill onto the boat. However once this was in motion and the family member had to try and walk onto the boat, another staff member stated the wheel chair ,period, was not allowed to be transferred onto the boat.
This staff member instructed us to go to Tower pier instead stating it was readily accessible for wheelchair users. Instructing us to go up over London bridge and back down to Tower pier. Which turned out to be false or perhaps difficult instructions to follow as the signs for this were not clear.
In the end the family member had to, with the assistance of other family, climb multiple staircases.
It would be appreciated in the future if staff did not give contraindicating...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat boat, great staff and not a bad price to get up and down London. Only issue I have with them is their windows are filthy ( check the pictures) and no clear place for anyone with a wheelchair or pushchair to be. Iāve seen pushchairs being moved around and placed away from seats so a parent canāt sit next to their child they will have to stand and Iāve seen a elderly lady in a wheel chair being moved away from her family and placed at the front of the boat while her family was left at the rear cause there was no places available for them to sit with her. This is not good enough, please have a disabled spots with seating for those who are in need can have priority. Please clean your windows. We take the boat because we get to see the buildings. If I wanted to not be able to see the building I would have taken the tube and saved myself some money.
I know you can heave great photos out the back of the boats as long as itās not busy. But if itās a full boat getting a good view may depend on them cleaning windows. The first load of photos are from the inside and the later (clearer photos) from outside in the back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis really could have been a great review. The Uber boat is a good value way to take in the sights from the river. However the young man with a South African accent who checks tickets went out of his way to be as unhelpful and patronising as he could. Fair enough we apparently didn't pick the right set of instructions before we got on. Our first time using the Uber boat, one sign about waiting to get tickets, then the usual oyster card instructions on the pole. We made the mistake of tapping on well before the boat arrived. Instead of just asking us to tap again the condescending man made a big song and dance about how we hadn't read the sign "why didn't you just do what the sign said" several times as if he didn't feel we had shown quite enough remorse over our huge error yet. After being asked several times what we should do finally said we could just tap again. I don't know if this guy lacks opportunities in his private life to assert himself or something but clearly showing empathy and providing helpful information is not how he wants to fill his day. Shame, because the views...
