M&S Simply Food — Local services in London

The staff at this branch are quite frankly not interested in providing any form of service. The shelf edge pricing is random at best and they basically chuck whatever they please on the shelf. The most recent annoyance was the purchase of some burgers, I didn't notice that they had a Use By which was the same as the day on which I was buying them. They reluctantly refunded them on the basis of a one off exception and then gave me a lecture as to why it was the Customers responsibility to check dates!

This fits with earlier experiences where I unwittingly bought something that was 3 days over it use by... Again my problem apparently!

Seemingly they're above such menial tasks as accurate pricing and basic food security.

So if you don't want to eat what you've bought same day remember to check the date and don't leave until you've checked the receipt as the odds of it being correct are negligible!

It's M&S food, so it's fine when things are in stock. Not a bad size shop so has a decent range. But staff are lazy and unattentive. A couple of times I have arranged a click and collect from this branch. And both times my "check-in" has been ignored and I've been left waiting like a lemon for ages until I've lost patience and tried to find someone to help. On the more recent experience (Saturday 25th Nov 2023) there was no-one at the self-service tills (unbelievable that these would be left unmonitored), and all of the shop floor staff (young male employees) were in one place, grouped around one chap actually doing some work (shelf stocking). Do NOT shop here until the pandemic is over. Staff do not engage in social distancing and it is somehow related to the fact that they are, “just doing their job.” I was at a self service till and a member of staff brushed up against me 3 times to get past. Could he not just say excuse me and I would have moved???? When I mentioned it to him he didn’t seem to understand the concept. His behaviour would be unacceptable at anytime. Marks and Spencer please train and educate your staff. That shop usually serves office staff who are all working at home. Residents of the area are keeping you afloat and you have no respect for their health and well being. I will never set foot in this store...
