I was introduced to Steven’s 90-minute class of hot yoga through a friend of mine. I had never tried hot yoga before and, even though it was extremely challenging, it was also very rewarding. I have been practising yoga on and off for over two years by watching YouTube videos. Being able, for the first time to do yoga as part of a group was a wonderful experience. Steven is totally on top of his game, brutally honest but with a sense of humour and he exactly knows how to check on, guide, and help each student individually in their practise. He encourages everyone to go at their pace and to only do what feels good to them, stressing the importance of breathing and being in tune with one’s body and abilities regardless of what others can do. Even in a room at 42 degrees, he never loses his cool:) Even though it was very difficult for me to bear the heat and intensity of the session (I had not drunk enough water before the class even though I had been advised to), I was glad I didn’t give up. The stretching and relaxation at the end felt absolutely amazing! Icing on the cake: a glass of fresh coconut water which tasted like heaven after effort in such an intensely hot environment. I am used to watching yoga videos online and in French so it was a bit difficult for me to adjust to Steven’s very fast-paced way of talking, but it was great to step out of my comfort zone and to be part of collective experience. It only made me want to do more yoga in the future, and to properly learn it with a teacher I can talk to and who can follow and check on my progress. Would definitely recommend but make sure to drink plenty of water before you attend...
Read moreI feel very lucky to be a member at deep yoga. Having tried a variety of studios across Nottingham, it’s the best. With knowledgeable teachers and an inclusive community. The studio itself is aesthetically beautiful and always evolving with colourful lights and character. Feels strange to mention the lights but they change the space to suit the class. Red for hot and dimmed warm gold for yin. Little considerations like this make it really special at easy to focus on yourself. It’s quirky and feels like a creative space allowing you to develop your practice.
There a great range of classes throughout the week which suit all levels with a variety of fantastic teachers. My favourites include Sunday’s yin.. such a dreamy way to set you up for the week to come - feel it’s worth pointing out that I used to hate yin but this class is special.
My absolute favourite though is Fridays 6pm hot - 90 mins 42 degrees.. sweat out the stresses of the week. For me it’s therapy. There is no hot class in the UK like this one, it will take you to the edge. Don’t worry though, whether you are a beginner or looking to deepen your practice, come along. The teachers skilfully ensure all levels are challenged. You are encouraged to do what you need to do, classes aren’t ever regimented by the teacher’s ego.
The teachers and other students here are a family - you will leave the studio feeling much better than you did when you entered, because everyone’s energy is so wholesome and peaceful . Visiting the shala has become a fundamental part of my weekly routine - maybe it will become...
Read moreI absolutely love being a member at Deep Yoga. I initially started on the £25 introductory offer which allowed me to try a range of classes with in a 2 week period and this also gave me the chance to get a feel for the studio, instructors and other members. I immediately felt welcome and it ticked all the boxes for me. I now have unlimited monthly membership which is very cost effective for the amount of classes i attend. There is such a mix of yoga practices on offer and with unlimited access i can really immerse myself in them all. I love all the classes i attend but these are perhaps my favourites: Wendy's aerial yoga is challenging and fun, Alice's Yin yoga is such a beautiful, comforting Sunday experience - I literally float home and i have just recently experienced the Friday Hot yoga session with Steven which was ...well... HOT! Really enjoyed this new dimension to my yoga practice which gave me greater flexibility and I must have sweated out a few toxins in that 90 mins.😁 So to sum up: highly recommended giving Deep Yoga a go. Try the introductory offer like i did and see...
