While trying to escape the blasts of the encroaching bombing squad by running into an old family cupboard I wandered deep past the winter coats, hats, and scarves, only to find myself teleported to a land called Urbnpop Comics Company. It was here that I was not greeted by a three and a half foot tall fawn named Mr Tumnus but instead a man named Chris. Some lady offered me Turkish Delight as well but that stuff's gross so I said no thank you and wandered around the comic book shop. The broad selection of Marvel, DC, IDW, Image, Dark Horse, Scout, and various other indie comics, vintage toys and art showed me a whole world of possibilities. Unfortunately they did not accept my world war two era British currency so I just left through the wardrobe closet I came through and told that weird lady offering me Turkish delight to choose an alternative candy to suggest to strangers as that stuff really isn't good.... What is good however is the shop owner Chris, that weird dude who works there on Thursday's and sometimes weekends, and the good vibe, positive and welcome atmosphere and the complete lack of bears, although the Alf toys nearly had me for a moment. They also do events and go to cons and they are having a meet up with the Red Ranger sometime soon at their shop!
100% I will be frequenting this shop. I would totally...
Read moreFantastic little shop. While it doesn't have a super-deep selection of back issues, it more than makes up for it with incredible selection of odds and ends (Seriously: a new old-stock Japanese metal windup duck in package, for a ridiculously cheap price. How can you pass on that?!) as well a miniature art gallery focused on local artists.
Add to that that the owner is clearly passionate about his craft and is a great conversationalist. I came in to just check it out and ended up spending an hour or so just chatting and exploring all the cool stuff. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, or a pull list if you...
