WARNING - DO NOT USE HOME DEPOT FOR ANY INSTALLATIONS! If I could give them NO stars I would. We purchased carpet to be installed throughout our entire upstairs (large chunk of money). Well, we were played BIG TIME with this one! After complaining to the store about the whole thing, they offered to refund $50 (LOL) -- that is just a punch to the face in this case. #1-3... really arent a HUGE deal and I could get over... #4 is the real issue!
The oldest guy was throwing the old carpet pieces down the stairs, in which hit a picture that was hanging on the wall - it fell and broke the photograph frame.
They "were not aware of the 5 stairs that needed to be bound at the bottom of the stairs", even though it was on the order.
The oldest guy (he was very grumpy, not friendly at all) was on the phone, speakerphone, with someone talking about the craziness of the stairs and layout of our home. The person on the phone says "that's one of the ones that aren't even worth it", he agreed, then pretty sure he realized we were around the corner, therefore, said "well no, it's worth it" - then continued going upstairs across the house to continue his conversation.
There was a large amount of carpet left but these installers took the underlayment (the padding that goes under the carpet) -- ya know, the stuff they can reuse themselves - I consider this stealing from me, to be honest since if there is carpet left, there should be the same amount of the padding. I did email the install company about this and she was pretty back and forth with her answer about where my padding is. THENNN... when the old man installer, Leroy Brown, came back to the house to do those 5 stairs, he offered to do the closet (which is not big). BUT NOW a lot of the carpet is now gone, he took it outside to cut so I am not sure if he perhaps took some with him or doubled up while installing the carpet in the closet. But the closet is not that big for the amount to be missing. He brought the carpet roll back inside and left it in our living room instead of the den, where its been since they left the first time. ALSO - no padding (underlayment) that goes underneath was left behind. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!
I am just so disappointed with the whole experience. I would NOT recommend these people for anything. The subcontractors that they used were US Installations - Augusta...

The Good: Kitchen designer was talented, detail oriented, delivered as promised and very helpful in the design look and functionality. Bravo!
Preempt Note:
So far HD has basically said that it was our misunderstanding of how the process works and that the 1st measure and estimate is dependent on the final design. We get that if the Scope changes so can the estimate. But that is the fallback response from everyone we have talked to. The cabinet estimate was spot on. The Labor estimate almost doubled even though the SCOPE REDUCED & the Installer changed his mind and dropped 3 things he was going to do in the original bid. So 5 different items were DROPPED from the SCOPE and the Labor almost doubled!
The Bad: We were hoping to salvage all of the design and planning work done but since no one would give us an answer we had to pick a new company. The Department manager refused to meet with us as "there is nothing we can do." NOTE: The Installer is a Sub Contractor and we thought that HD was the boss, not the other way around. Met with the Store Mgr and he promised to look into it. He gave me a direct number to call if he didn't get back to me in a week. He did not. I called several times but could not leave a message because the special number mailbox was full. I tried to find a phone number for the Regional Office and not to be found. Someone must have passed my info on as the District Office called and promised to look into. She, too, reminded me that the 2nd measure can change based on the Job Scope. (We know and I told her even before she brought it up.) Because of Helene I waited over a month to check with District, left more messages and no response. We thought HD Corporate would want to know if their approved Contractor increased the price by this much with No Explanation but that does not appear to be the case.
WHAT WE DID in the meantime: We got 3 more bids and all of the Labor estimates were the same, or slightly less that the original Contractor Labor bid. We went with a great local company and very happy. We didn't have a kitchen for Thanksgiving or Christmas because of the HD delay but again, the new product is great so far.
Still waiting on a HD response. Over 20 calls and attempted meetings and still no apology...
Read moreI bought a fire pit on 1/30/25, it was missing the poker and a leg was broken! Took it back with original receipt, a lady named Joyce did the refund, got an email that the refund wouldn't go thru due to my card was expired! Called the bank asking because my care doesn't expire until 2/29, the bank asked if I had to swipe my card at the store for the refund, I said no! The bank let me know a refund on my debit card I would have to swipe and enter my pin! Called the store today and spoke with assistant store manager Phillip he told me to come on back and no problem they could rerun it! Get to the store and get told that because my original receipt says MasterCard (but under master card it says US debit) that my card was in fact a charge card (it definitely isn't a charge card and has no charge option) even if I by pass they pin (which I've never been able to do)! That they couldn't help me! It could be up to 72 hours before they would release a refund! Well the clue that the refund was initiated was the email from the bank with the receipt #, date, amount of refund and store name and address stating that the refund would have to be redone!! So I then get told that Monday would be the soonest that I could talk to anyone else! That there is no options for a customer on Saturday or Sunday! Yet they are open for business on the same days!! Asked for something stating that I was instore and spoke with Phillip and Kayleigh today and was told no they couldn't do that either! So we will see how things go on Monday! Poor customer service in my opinion they have my fire pit back...
