I want to say that I hardly ever wrote reviews. At my age it’s redundant as I expect to be in glory in the next decade or so however- My husband recently visited the Academy store for some hand weights. We are an over 70 years old couple and we are both retired from the medical field, I am a retired dentist and my husband served as a medic in the military then a dental technician in our family practice until we turned the business over to our son. At some point you just want to relax and enjoy the time you have left here. We’ve also recently decided to work on our health, hence the reason for the visit- we have ourselves a personal trainer and he recommended that we both spend time strengthening our arms- I was on my husband’s Bluetooth and was privileged to hear the conversation between he and an employee- She was so helpful and friendly to him that I asked him to ask her, her name? I believe she said Miss Q- which he later verified. Not only did this awesome employee help him find what he was looking for, but upon talking to him, I found out that she helped him carry those weights to his truck- as he walks with a cane. Now my husband is a talker, as am I and in a world where not many people have the time nor patience to entertain conversations with elderly individuals, I listened as she remained friendly, personable, encouraging and polite towards all the things he went on about! I expressed to him that I truly wanted to write a review to let someone know of that gem of an employee that Academy has in this young woman! As an elderly person my husband and I are often overlooked and disregarded in most spaces where we are not known personally. Yet this extraordinary young woman regarded my husband with So much respect & patience. It’s very rare to hear Sir’s and Ma’am’s from this new generation. It’s very rare to meet someone who truly take into account an individual’s ability be it physically, emotionally or mentally. That is who Miss Q presented herself as and it was very refreshing to observe. So I give Miss Q 4 Thumbs up and a huge thanks from us! I want to say that I also visited the store at a later date with my granddaughter and as fate would have it, Miss Q happened to be the same employee who helped us find a very nice dress, which happened to be on sale at an amazing price! She got off of a ladder and preceded to find exactly what I wanted and offered to get me a bench to sit on while my granddaughter tried on her new dress! My own experience with this sweet girl reminded me to write this review! Another 4 thumbs up Miss Q! Keep up the awesome work and I will surely visit Academy more often as a result of my encounter with...

This was a pleasantly quiet trip (for a stormy day). Nice to see that the weather didn't deter customers - nor employees from providing excellent service. (Even with an Autistic Toddler running and stimming through the store)

I came in looking for a [waterproof] - EMPHASIS on the word - jacket. There weren't many large to extra large sizes in women's jackets, but I managed to find a simple Columbia rain jackets for $20 off. While browsing for that, I noticed plenty clearance shelves and tables neatly set up by the shoe department. That was definitely bound to catch my roommates attention. Although, he didn't find anything to his liking in particular. It's good that was set up there, because on any other day we would have instantly been trying to grab some shoes.

Roommate got an ELECTRIC air mattress thats 3ft high off the floor. I know he's happy because its MAGELLAN quality with a built-in pump!

The only thing that struck me as odd, was at the checkout when the cashier was asked if there was a return policy. She responded with an "uhh..." like she didnt know or if was guaranteed on an air mattress. Luckily, we dont plan on returning anything _..
