Hana Alexandria — Restaurant in Alexandria

Three of us sat at the hibachi side for lunch. All the food was very bland. My son ordered steak and chicken, my mother ordered steak and shrimp, and I also ordered steak and shrimp but substituted rice for extra noodles. All could have used a bit more salt and pepper. The dipping sauce was extremely what I would describe as watered-down. They no longer offer the small side salad that used to come with your meal. However, the clear soup is given. Only the waitress had forgotten to bring the soup out before I meal was cooked. So we had to ask for it. Noodles did not have much sauce, and as described in the menu, it is garlic noodles, but they failed to add the garlic. I was disappointed as the Noodles used to be my favorite part of the meal. As far as the steak goes, my son ordered his medium, mother ordered medium well, and mine was medium rare. No matter the temperature of the steak, all three were very tough. It's not a good piece of meat. Overall, I would have to say it was definitely not worth the price we paid. Food was good, chef was great. Service was terrible. The server was so rude and acted like we were inconveniencing him by being there. We were taking him away from sitting in the corner playing on his phone. We sat at the hibachi table and there was a family we didn’t know seated with us, they ordered drinks and sushi. They brought out the sushi never brought the drinks. The other family finally asked another server for our drinks and they went and found him and he was over in the corner on his phone. Finally got drinks. My husband asked for double rice twice and when they served us he didn’t get double rice and so I asked the server about it and the server said that he didn’t ask. The other family started laughing and said we’re way over here and we heard it you definitely said it. I couldn’t believe that he tried to blame it on us instead of just apologizing which would’ve been fine and we definitely could’ve just moved on. We never got refills the rest of the night I asked for Japanese mayo three times. This was our first time at Hana and our last. My daughter and I decided to go one evening. She wanted steak and scallops and I selected steak and shrimp. After placing our order and getting our drinks, we were given the first two courses of it meal; salad and miso soup. The salad was a simple mix of lettuce work a few shredded carrots. You have a choice of ranch or Ginger dressing. We both chose ranch. Our soup was a broth based miso with a slice of mushroom and green onion. Both were so simple and basic but also delicious. The hibachi chef was extremely friendly and entertaining. He tossed and twirled his utensils. Built the flaming onion hut while making train sounds. Cracked the eggs by tossing them and tapping them with his spatula before it landed. This was the start of the hibachi rice and noodles. He served generous portions to each guest and proceeded to cook for meats. Our steak was cooked to our specification of medium and perfectly seasoned.
