I wandered into a pop-up store in NYC last weekend, my curiosity piqued by some beautiful garments that reminded me of home (I lived in Singapore for many yrs). But every piece in there was beautiful.

Turned out to be the last day of the pop-up, and I was glad I stopped in because I found a top with an eye-catching print of a raptor (and I used to work with raptors).

I chatted with the designer, Angeline Oei. Turns out she is from Singapore too, and the print was inspired by an encounter with a Cooper's hawk (a species I have worked with !) at her balcony in Washington. I thought this was an auspicious sign, and the top is awfully well made and flattering, so I bought it.

The icing on the cake (as I try to live as close to zero waste as possible) was the fact that the wrapping she placed the top in can be composted in my backyard composter !
