Most of the staff here is not very friendly and this is after observing many diff cashiers/floor sales people etc over the last 2 years. The men here seem more friendly to be honest while the women turn their noses and don't even say hello (is it because I am a brown person and not christian looking?!) Three times so far, they've over charged me for items I bought. Happened to me again yesterday. May be they're hoping people won't notice or bother going back to the store for 50cents/$1 over charges. It's a matter of principle for me that they should not overcharge! Their prices have gone up significantly lately I thought. While inflation is high, it seemed that items I have bought/know prices for have gone up crazy high. I found proof of that yesterday in fact. A pack of water brushes I picked was $2.99. I was thinking I'll buy them another time and as I went to put it back, I noticed exact same item hanging on the wall for $8.99!! So the old price was $2.99 and new one is ridiculously high for not even a Tim Holtz or well known brand. Well obviously I bought the 2.99 pkg. I also noticed that a set of 10 gift bags are now $2 higher than they were before as I saw some for $8.99 while old ones were 6.99. Exact same set/color/brand etc.... They claim that their items are often on sale (2 week rotation in fact) and hence they removed the 40% off coupon. Well, after jacking up prices by 50%-60%, they now claim it's on "sale". Some items never go on sale and there's no more coupon either....so you'll pay the full (higher than before to boot) price.
Update from Jan 2025: Paper studio used to be 50% off every other week or so but now just 40% off! So this is how they justify why they removed the coupons? Prices have increased well above inflation (read earlier points on that). And then sale reduced by 10%!! You do the math! Only out of season items like Xmas etc is big sale but I don’t buy that stuff. I’m only interested in general paper crafting supplies. Note that other hobby stuff (except jewelry) don’t go on sale at all.
Last year I bought 50 sheets of letter size vellum and scrapbook Paper packs on clearance for $2-$2.49. This week, it’s $3.49 which is fair but they cheat by putting a pretty first paper and the rest are solid colors! I saw one YouTuber show her disappointment after buying this. I get turned off by such disingenuous practices. These are left over, HL packaged items… they could label them that it’s one printed sheet, x number solid. But no, they want to pull wool over our eyes instead.
Apparently using barcodes, scanners is not acceptable at Hobby Lobby. I heard it’s satanic! So they punch prices manually at the cash register no matter how many amd needless to say, overcharges and mistakes happen often. At a diff store, I was overcharged by $147!!! $1.47 was the price. I had bought a very large amount of stuff that day for family members who had asked me to pick up stuff for them too. I was rushing to work but I noticed it was higher than expected and asked the cashier (super long receipt) and she said “oh no, it’s not bad for the amount of stuff you’ve purchased!). Got home later and realized I had no item costing $147!! Lost sleep, hoped the manager would believe me next day. Lugged back ALL the bags to show them and fortunately the mgr immediately realized what had happened and refunded my money. This incident was in a diff store but manual entries is the problem at ALL locations!!
To be fair, when HL has paper crafting clearance every year just to make room for Xmas stuff (which they start loading in August!), they have Tim Holtz also included and have great prices! This is the fav thing about HL for me. Otherwise, Joann has much better coupons to buy Tim Holtz. Even free shipping if your item is out of stock at stores, just call their customer service and they ship for free plus match sale price at the time. Wish hobby lobby had coupons to use on what WE want. Now, HL and Joann etc are all selling more home decor than...
Read moreI would give this store 0 stars but you have to give at least one to post a review. This store cares more about dogs than customers. My wife and I went there to shop for some things and a woman with two enormous dogs, at least 100 lbs each, was taking up one whole aisle - her dogs had collars and leases, but she had let go of the leashes and the dogs were wandering around the aisle wherever they wanted. These dogs were pets, not service dogs. A service dog must have a harness and it is NOT a pet, it is a working dog. One of these dogs came after my wife and when we told the owner that she should not have her her dogs in the store, , and that at the very least she must have control of them at all times, she was aggressive, rude and dismissive and acted crazy. We found some employees to tell them about the problems and their only answer is that they are following ADA guidelines, which had nothing to do with this situation - since these dogs are pets, not service animals. The employees also did not move from the their places to find out what was happening or if the dogs were creating an issue, they simply could not be bothered to help customers…. I know that stores have a hard time hiring people, but at least they should provide them with some training, and their actions are certainly not what I call customer service.
This is the very last time I will visit this, or any other, Hobby Lobby. It is unfortunate for them and for me, I have been a loyal customer up until today. They purport to be be Christian and Family friendly - but it seems to me that they care more for the creature than the Creator.
I do not want to shop at a dog park and I certainly don’t want to be accosted by dogs when I am shopping. In case anyone forgets, dogs eat garbage, cat feces, lick their own butts and other dogs butts and roll around in dead animals. I do not want their hair and slobber all over the products I am purchasing, but when you shop at Hobby Lobby that is what you will get, whether you...
Read moreCame In here the other day. Checkout is always slow because they have to hand key in a lot of stuff, but I was ok with that. Get rung up and go to swipe my gift card and it said there was a card reader error. Not sure if it was a manager or just a supervisor or what, but the guy the cashier called over essentially said if the card reader won't work, he can't do anything and then tells me to call the number on the back of the gift card. Claims they have no way to enter it manually, but I've seen them key in card info before, and they hand key in the items you're purchasing....but you don't have the ability to manually input a gift card? Then try and tell me its my gift card when it clearly read CARD READER ERROR. Didn't offer to try and use a different register or anything. I saw the long line of people behind me and came to the conclusion he just didn't want to deal with it because they were busy. I just left without getting my items. I understand the store is busy, but it's not my fault the card reader wasn't working properly, and when he almost immediately said I had to call the number on the gift card, I could tell he didn't want to deal with it. There was no issue with gift card...
