Oceanology — Local services in Altamonte Springs

BEWARE REEF AND OCEANOLOGY!! We have bought flip flops, tshirts and other things here for the past several years, spending $300 to $400 a year. On July 22 my wife bought a pair of Reef "water friendly" flip flops for $55. The first time they got wet water got inside the shoe and mildewed. The left shoe only, how is that not a defect? Stunk up the whole closet!! My wife contacted the store and was told it was over 30 days (it was 42 days) and they would not return or exchange them. We have tried everything to get the smell out but the mildew is somewhere inside the shoe so they are basically trash.... The owners are not even willing to issue store credit. They are now losing a long time customer over a poor customer service decision for $55. Pitifully foolish.

I am attaching a photo of the bad shoe and the tag so no one else gets stuck with these things. You can see the shoe is basically new.

My advice, buy Okukai or some non Reef shoes and don't get them from an irresponsible retailer...

In general, my experiences inside this store have always been good. I had an issue with the sizing of something, so I took it back in a few days later to exchange (item still fully unopened, and I had my receipt for the item). While my overall situation was taken care of, I did feel like I was being called out a bit for something that was not my fault. The item rang up differently than what was listed on the product packaging, so I was asking if it was possible to exchange it for the right size/price. As a retail manager myself, I understand that there are some things you need to call into question on returns, however - if I have my receipt dated within the 30 days, have the product completely unopened/unused, and have clear proof that the item was not priced correctly, I'm not really sure why there were so many questions regarding my exchange. As stated above, my overall need was met and I was able to get the right size for my item, so I will still give 4...
