Born and raised in Alton and raised our children in Alton I’m 71 years old moved from the area 13 years ago came back to visit last weekend and was absolutely sickened to see my parents and grandparents graves plus our plots in knee deep weeds and not mowed. I have never seen it as bad as it is now the caretakers ought to be ashamed to treat the love ones of so many so poorly. Yes we do expect when we visit to see our loved ones resting places kept up is that so much to ask?Instead left there in tears and disgust for the owners. Is it coming down to the point we have to maintain our on lots?? I would like to hear if more feel this way we need action on this matter our love ones deserve better the cemetery sure new how to take our money when the lots were purchased!! No doubt they need to hire more help and not just try to keep around the perimeter of the place tidy but for all who are in there!! Maybe they need things called mowers and weed eaters! Surely they don’t take pride in the grounds anymore. Please owners do your job and clean up! Also the trash barrels that had been there for years have been taken away that tells us...
Read moreEvery time I go to this cemetery, the only part that looks half way decent is the new part so they can sell more plots! This Cemetery needs new Management. There is a law this must be maintained. There are so many headstones from long ago that have fallen and they just lay, no one picked them up. Grass knee high in the older part. Let’s go to the State with how this Cemetery is caring for our loved ones graves!!!! I am sickened by the state of this cemetery. Beware those who buy the new plots. Someday your loved ones resting place will look just as bad as the older section. I complained and was met with a total lackadaisical attitude. ...

When it is mowed they don’t get grass or weeds growing around the tombstones, the grass from mowing is allowed to stay accumulated on the tombstones. I don’t know what can be done about the uneven ground, but it is very dangerous to walk across the lawn to the burial lot anywhere looking for loved one’s gravesites to decorate or just to may respect in remembering them. But the staff are pleasant when you need to...
