Caring Hands Food Pantry — Local services in Altoona

I just had a baby and decided to come here since I wasn’t working. I was talking to the lady who was in charge and told her my address and she says that I wasn’t eligible to come here since I don’t live in the south east Polk district. Once the lady behind the desk puts in my address , the computer says I’m eligible. But the main lady said no. I live the next street over that is in Des Moines side. They allowed it that once but the main lady said I couldn’t come back but yet the computer says I could. Made no sense to me. I was turned away AFTER already picked out my food, I was told to leave the food and I was banned from coming back. All because the staff lady didn't think my Halloween decorations on my sister's trick were appropriate. My 4yr was denied food at a time snap was not issued, because she didn't care for the decorations? She was rude, demeaning, embarrassed me, and left my child without food. Staff is friendly, the store is very clean and they always have a nice selecting of items from clothing to decor, appliances, furniture, crafts, shoes, games and even Halloween costumes!
