I'm wishing the best for this Northgate. It's actually a really good looking grocery store that has A LOT of freshly cooked food available, but I've seen first hand how some people can be a bit disgusting when handling fresh food. I'm referring to the customers, not the employees, I'll get back to that later.

Sushi at Northgate? Yup, I tried it! It's actually pretty good and not too pricey. I grabbed a California roll combo which came with 4 salmon nigiri pieces at about $10. Pretty good and it was well made.

Once you go through the store entry you'll have all of the fresh food, coffee, and juices to your right. You can create your own salad or combo. Everything is charged by the pound. They also have soups available like pozole, chicken tortilla soup, chicken noodle soup, clam chowder, and other traditional Mexican soups. If you're looking for salsas they have tons of them! Also around the "to-go" area they have pre-made boxed salads, wraps, fruit salads, and some desserts.

The coffee shop has a nice variety. They have your traditional options like iced or hot coffee, mochas, and teas. I noticed the only option that really differed was a iced honey vanilla cappuccino option. I ordered the iced mocha latte since they were promoting it on one of the bigger displays, but I received a blended drink instead. At the juice area they have some pre-made juices already prepared, if not you can customize your own drink. You can order by the cup or by the pitcher. They also have some add-ons available and almond milk as a substitute.

They offer a couple of samples on some of the juices, salads, and guacamole.

The cooked meat options have about the same selection as any other Northgate; carnitas, ribs, pollo asado (grilled chicken), chicharron (fried pork rinds/belly). They also have some traditional Mexican dishes like chili relleno, mole, chicharron in salsa, tamales, etc. They even have sweet tamales like strawberry or chocolate tamales! There's also a HUGE variety of cheeses. I noticed about 4-5 different types of chorizo. They offered a selection of pre-made seafood options like shrimp cocktails, and red or green aguachiles.

Of course Northgate has always been pretty good about their produce pricing and this location is no exception. The quality looked great.

On the far left hand side of the store they offer fresh sweet bread, a candy bar, cakes, and about 3 frozen chabet options from Elado (Look them up on yelp! ). Definitely stop by this area, I found arroz con leche bark at the candy station and bottled oatmeal as well. They also have a flower department.

Luckily checkout was fairly easy. They have your usual cashiers, plus express cashiers if you have 10 items or less.

Getting back to my remark from the beginning, the fresh food is not covered and is available for self serve. Some people need to be courteous on how to handle self serve food. Self serve doesn't mean you can sample directly from the food tray! I'm glad they have MULTIPLE employees supervising all of the areas, definitely...

Store Experience with One Notable‼️

I wanted to share my overall positive experience at Northgate, one of my favorite stores. I find myself visiting this store at least three or four times a week, and it has consistently delivered exceptional quality and freshness. However, I feel compelled to address an unfortunate encounter with one of the employees, specifically the lady responsible for selling the fresh guacamole she is a regular at this station. While the manager and the rest of the attendants at different stations have always been friendly and helpful, my interaction with the lady in question left much to be desired. I approached her to inquire about the availability of onions and cabbage to accommodate my posole , only to be met with a rude and dismissive response. She curtly suggested I seek assistance elsewhere, which was quite disheartening given the otherwise excellent customer service I had received throughout the store.

Although I chose not to engage further and promptly left the store, I believe it is essential to highlight this incident. Customers, myself included, appreciate a positive and respectful environment when shopping, and being talked down to is certainly not conducive to such an experience. I sincerely hope that the management addresses this issue and provides the necessary guidance and training to ensure that all employees consistently uphold the high standards of customer service that Northgate is known for.

Despite this isolated incident, I wholeheartedly recommend this particular Northgate location. The quality and freshness of their products are outstanding, and the majority of the staff members go above and beyond to assist customers. It is my sincerest wish that the lady in question reflects upon her behavior and realizes the impact it has on the store's reputation and customer satisfaction. I will get my gac elsewhere
