Former employee. Working at Grocery Outlet started out great. I was told there was open communication, questions were welcomed, and safety was priority. I was shown around the store and introduced to people, and started catching on to the routine. Things started to go downhill when I realized I wasn't being trained by a manager, or even a supervisor. I was being trained by an employee. Whenever I asked for help from the manager, I was constantly told to just get help from that empty. Everything was "figure it out yourself". I had a stalker for the last couple years, who has followed me through 3 jobs and tried to get me fired at all of them. I saw him in the store while I was passing by an isle, and he asked me for help for one of the products. I simply said (freaked out but trying to stay professional) "I'm not comfortable helping you." And walked away. The only reason I didn't make a scene is because I really needed the job, and I was terrified he'd try to get me fired. Next day, I was fired. Yes, the managers chose my stalker (apparently they loved him being a regular customer more than caring about their employees safety) to win this one. They said that on their side, all they saw was me "refusing" to help a customer, and since I was just starting out on the probationary period, it was reason enough for them to fire me, even though I had let them know ahead of time about the situation. It blows my mind that ANY business would do this, especially one that promotes it's "family" and "open communication". I would not recommend...
Read moreI would like to rate this store 0 stars, however, that is not a choice I have been given. Yesterday evening I did a shop in the Anderson, CA store. At checkout I found my pin for my card did not work. The owner of the store said that he had seen shoppers set their pin over the phone. I attempted to set my pin. I was informed that I had to set my pin in the office. The owner of the store told me he would put my selections in the meat locker, I could have my pin reset in the morning, come back in the morning and not have to re=shop or reselect the items I had attempted to purchase.
I was able to get my pin reset and returned to the store to pick up the groceries, I believed they were holding for me. I had called earlier and told them I was having problems getting the pin reset early in the morning but I would be in later in the morning. I was told it was ok.
The night before the owner told me to ask for the morning supervisor, I do not remember the names of the two people I was told to ask for. When I got to the store I asked to talk with a supervisor. A male worker came up and I explained what I was there for. He left and returned with a female worker. She informed me that they could not hold groceries over night.
I do not like being lied to and the owner of the store had lied to me the night before. I will not go back into the Anderson store and I will also suggest everyone I know to stay out of the...
Read moreI have no complaints about the cashiers, they are always friendly, willing to help you or get someone that can if you need help & they do everything they possibly can to ensure the customer is satisfied with their purchase. The only suggestion I have would be to make sure you check the dates on everything you buy at Grocery Outlet because I purchased this flour without checking the date and it had expired last year. I am sure they don't usually stock items that are expired but mistakes happen so just be sure to check the dates so you don't spend money on stuff that you have to throw away. Losing money this way is never a good thing to happen especially if you don't have it to spare. Just wanted to share my experience so that hopefully it will help others to not have the...
