I brought an engagement ring with a lab grown diamond to sell that I had bought off James Allen. I had all my paperwork and original box, not that that matters. They had to have it sent off to have their team appraise the ring. 2 weeks go by and they call back giving me an offer of less than half what it was appraised for through James Allen (1500$) that’s not the problem. I declined their offer and went to pick it up a couple weeks later as it was a far drive for me. Picked it up and tried selling it on my own for awhile with no luck and decided to take their offer. So I took it back and they had to send it off to get appraised again. This time it only took a day and they offered me $60. Telling me it was a moissanite stone. I explained it was lab grown diamond and they had that checked before and confirmed. They proceeded to tell me it was no diamond. No one aside me and them handled this ring. Awfully fishy the first time they appraised it it took over 2 weeks and the second time only a day and it somehow no longer was a diamond. I had a ring sized and a wedding set cleaned. They charged $166 to size it and $40 yo clean. I told them I did NOT want the ring to come back and be thinner than it was. I was told "it will be thicker because they will add to it. Picked the rings up and it's paper thin just what I told them NOT to do. When questioned about it being so thin was told it's bigger, which is a flat out lie. I would not ever trust Greenbergs in Ankeny with anything of mine ever again!

Still haven't heard back about this issue after 3 weeks. I have also emailed the store and didn't get an answer back. This is the kind of business this is, shop at your own risk. I sure didn't have any trouble getting a response 3 months ago when I bought a ring at this store.

I got a call from the manager Laura yesterday and I'm taking my ring in this week and she's having it fixed. Thank you in advance for doing what I feel is the right thing!

Took my ring to Laura the manager and she has worked very hard to get this right and believe she will get it done. She's kind and caring and makes no excuses, she just does...

Selection was good, prices seemed fair, and I've bought from Greenberg Jewelers before (at a different location) and I intend to purchase from them again - but something bothered me at this location.

This was my first visit to the Oralabor road GJ, and after the staff found out that I had bought my engagement ring at the Greenberg Jewelers in Des Moines, they told me they don't blame me for going to THIS store instead, since the other GJ didn't have "the right selection or personnel". I asked what they meant by the other GJ not having "the right personnel" and they told me the other store doesn't have good training. I don't like this. Don't tell me the other Greenberg stores are bad, I actually enjoyed my experience at the other GJ much more because the folks were actually friendly and helpful.

If you want me to purchase the right ring, help me find the right ring. Don't tell me other stores are bad and try to upsell me. Just help me find the right ring and you get my business.
