I just left hobby town in Ankeny IA at 9:25PM; way past close their closing time. Might I just say, I’m shocked the reviews aren’t all 5/5 stars. Between their willingness to accommodate my requests, their patience and their all-around laid-back-but-professional attitude, these individuals deserve a solid 6/5 stars. That extra star would represent the extra mile they took to make sure I was 150% taken care of. here’s a brief summary:
The only arrma infraction they had left was missing the esc, motor, receiver and transmitter; they had a customer that needed those components for his infraction that failed while still under warranty. Not only was it super cool that they put in the extra effort to help that client out, but their willingness to do the same for me was just remarkable. Without hesitation, they worked together to locate another arrma 6s RC (one that they had multiple stock of) with components identical to those that were missing from the “donor” infraction and pulled them from the “donor” arrma and install into the infraction I was purchasing. They even threw in an upgrade receiver!
All in all, from the moment I walked in, to the moment I left smiling ear to ear, everything about my experience was nonetheless extraordinary. Despite the unconventional circumstances, I was well taken care of. I would recommend Ankeny Hobbytown USA to anyone and everyone looking for a one-stop shop with a MASSIVE selection of hobby-grade products and a kick@ss crew that will go above and beyond to get you exactly what you’re looking...
Read moreI've recently gotten back into the rc world after 10+ years. Had visited other shops and made my purchases. To me customer service is a huge deal. Other shops in the area seem to have missed the mark on customer service and experience. I recently just made a purchase for what I call the last rc truck I'll ever own. I've come to this shop before for issues that other shops couldn't help me with. (Making me feel stupid and just talking down to me) and this shop and the group of guys working there were so helpful and kind to me (unlike other shops) Now I have to say I have built a great relationship with this shop in a very short period of time. They just treat you like you matter. They have an amazing selection, extensive experience, and very competitive prices! This will be the only shop I give my time or my money to. Stop in and see for yourself why I say this is the best shop in the Midwest. You guys seriously exceed my expectations and really made my experience so...
Read moreI must say that this is one of the coolest stores in Iowa. I love Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc. But most of the items in Hobby Town are unique and definitely for the remote control hobbyist or for that "hard to buy for" friend/family member.
The guys running it were Uber cool and patient. The employees/owner and customers definitely love the sport and know their stuff. They have plenty of regulars it appeared when I was there, which I like to see and means a lot these days.
I was always told that the difference between boys and men was the price of their toys...and they have some pricey items but they have items of all price ranges. In addition, if you have questions, issues or just wanna brag...you can't get that at Amazon, thus; priceless.
Expect to spend at the very least 30 minutes here if it's the first visit. I was there for an hour looking at everything.
i highly recommend stopping in to see the Hobby Town crew. It's...
