Pho 85 — Restaurant in Ankeny

My husband, our toddler, our baby and I came to Pho 85 and the owner told us we were liars. I have a peanut allergy and I asked her to make sure there were no peanuts on it because last time they put peanuts on it when I had requested them not to.

We decided to try Pho 85 one more time and I requested no peanuts on a different dish since several of their dishes has peanuts in it. When she handed us our takeout food, I asked her if she could double check that there were no peanuts. The owner proceeded to tell me that the customers can check the food themselves if they wanted. I asked her to please check and she opened the bag and refused to open the box. She said "I check every box and I know there aren't any peanuts."

She eventually opened the box and luckily there weren't any peanuts. She said last time when I came, I had called a week later letting her know I broke out in hives because she had put peanut sauce mixed in my food without telling me. She said because I had called a week late that there was no way she could know if I was telling the truth.

She went on to ask why did I wait a whole week to call, which I responded that I was sick and got hives from her not listening to my order and putting peanut sauce in my food. My husband then asked her how early we needed to call to tell her our food was wrong. She told us we had 24 hours and that was it. She said if we wait too long to call she can't look at the camera footage to see if we we were telling the truth or lying.

This business woman is evil and greedy. I would highly recommend people to stay away from this business. As someone who is Vietnamese, I am disgusted by her awful character and the disgrace she brings to the Vietnamese culture with her food and business ethics. Please stay away, everyone. We there today .Beef noodle too awful and bad food Noodle & meat brisket look like Flour .Extra Brisket in Menu $3.50 . The lady owner Took me $3.95 and often Beef Noodle ….. anyway, I don’t Payed more for fat broth &Onion . The owner took more $3.95 . I not happy because not good food for eat . Pho 85 not honest …. going there check it when before pay. Almost the owner the people work there, they don’t understand English …..so I am ask something she just say yes ,OK .They took order it confused it wrong. when the food is wrong…..We talk with them. They have angry face never discount and they never say sorry .That restaurant all don’t understand English.They are Chinese, So they much mean. before the former owner and Vietnamese, they make the beef noodle very very perfect. Good food how we there now I never come back again again I will tell my Friend never come back there .Not good ...

I am craving Pho. I know that this is the best place in Ankeny for me to kill the craving. Last time I was here I walked in on an early evening and got the last table available. Greeted warmly by a young man who sat us. Another young lady came and got our drink orders. Tvs are on at both ends of the small restaurant but not turned up. Music plays from the overhead speakers.

I ordered us the shrimp spring rolls. I just love soaking them in the peanut sauce that comes with them. I ordered the small well done brisket and tendon. Yum. Pho comes with a plate of basil leaves, jalapeños and, bean spouts to add to your broth as you want. It comes out hot and delicious. Hubby got the chicken pad tai. He liked it.

I got to take some of my soup home with me to have later. I really enjoy this little place. Lots of people walking in for pick up too. All great signs of a good...
