It's very impressive that each employee can balance 5 customers at the same time, but they really need a change of policy about this. Take care of one customer at a time, especially if they took the effort to make an actual appointment. If other customers walk in, they should wait their turn. Otherwise, everyone gets terrible service and feels rushed.
Disappointed in the service we received here. Spent a total of $1,637 on suits for our wedding, and the process has been confusing and frustrating all the way through. I'm the groom and we didn't even do a proper fitting until I went in a second time and forced the issue. Every question we had or explanation we received was given with an impatient shortness in order to pull away to other customers. Employees acted like they were desperate to get away from us, and all we had were very basic questions. It didn't even feel like we had time to think. Our first visit was during prom season so it was more understandable, but when I went back a second time the store was completely empty, and before we even finished, the employee had already opened another customer's order and couldn't even look at prices or make changes to mine.
This is for the most important day of our lives. A huge portion of our budget went to these suits and we were treated as an impossible inconvenience the entire time. Due to the fact I forced them to fit me, they didn't even bother having me try on my actual suit when it arrived, or tell me it needed hemmed.
To top it all off our two year old ringbearer's suit cost the exact same to rent as the adults in our wedding party ($302.10). This seems ridiculous to me. We should've just bought him a suit somewhere else for $80, but once again, we were rushed and had poor communication, so we agreed to it on impulse. This was our own fault, but still adds to the frustration.
If you want to spend big for your important day, try elsewhere. This isn't the serious establishment I remember from years past. Whoever owns this company clearly doesn't care enough about his poor employees or customers enough to hire more help. The prices are high-end, MAYBE the service...
Read moreDO NOTTTTT go to this place if you want things to go smooth and not get lied to multiple times. My wedding is only a month away and I had to cancel everything and move all my groomsman to a totally different shop. These people are absolutely the worst to work with. The very first day my Groomsman walked in the door we set the expectations and were assured OVER AND OVER again that they can make it work. I have a bigger size gentleman as part of my groomsman and they reassured me time and time again that they can fit him. After telling them I would like to do fittings/measurements sooner rather than later BECAUSE of this scenario she reassured me saying “it’s too soon we can push it back to END of July for fittings” (my wedding is in September). Well we’re now to the end of July and I have my boys go in to get fitted and try on and nothing is working out, the sizes arnt working out, they can’t seem to measure them correctly etc. each time we go in the price of suit rental/purchase is different; they told my Best man to purchase his suit it would be $300ish and the next time we went in it’s all of a sudden more than $500… My Groomsman who’s a little bigger we were ASSURED they can make it work all of a sudden they cannot, they have to special order it and we can “wait till 1-2 days BEFORE THE WEDDING DATE “ before it comes or “Gamble at the fact that it might not even come in time” HORRIBLE experience. 10/10 do...
Read moreWe rented 11 tuxes through Skeffington's Ankeny for our wedding. As the groom, the staff was very easy to work with and allowed total customization of pieces, fittings, and adjustments. The waist on the pants is adjustable which gives some flexibility if someone gets mis-measured. They have monthly deals, so the father of bride and father of groom got a very nice discount when we signed our contract in June. None of my groomsmen live in Ankeny, so they all sent their measurements in through the website which was very easy. One groomsman's tux was not ready the day before the wedding, and another was missing studs and cufflinks. Thankfully they have a couple other locations around the DSM metro, so it was easy to pick up the morning of the wedding.
Because of the timings of wedding weekend events, I had to pick up about 8 of the tuxes. Unfortunately, the man at the register could not tell me how much each specific person owed, just the total to pick up all 8. I would highly recommend Skeffington's invest in a POC system that can provide itemized receipts, and better communication through email. Overall, this was a good experience, and I have purchased some suits for myself through them. I would recommend Skeffington's Ankeny to any groom looking for local rentals or purchases, they were one of the least stressful vendors we...
