I am thrilled to write this review for The Island Cabana, and specifically for the manager, Karsen Lonzo. As someone who also works in the Customer Service Industry, I empathize with the ins and outs of keeping clients happy, and my experience with Karsen caused me to reaffirm my own commitment to flawless customer service in my career as a Chef. Here's why, and ya'll read this, because this kind of service is RARE!
I was unable to join my family this year for our annual vacation to Anna Maria Island, so my Mom and Sister in Law made my yearly Lilly selections at Island Cabana. I've lost about 20 lbs in the last year, so when my gifts arrived, they were far too large.
Enter Karsen Lonzo, ROCKSTAR manager of Island Cabana. Here's what this stellar young woman did for me after my initial phone call, where I told her I didn't know where to start, only that I had $600 of new Lilly Pulitzer clothing that I couldn't wear to any festivities for my upcoming wedding. Keep in mind, I live in Austin, Texas. Empathized with my situation and assured me it would be handled with a friendly attitude. Sent me photos, photos, and more photos of items in the store, asked other employees to TRY ON items in my size and sent those photos. Waited for me to get my correct measurements and compared sizes on each items. Once I (finally) made my selections, patiently ordered my items from their supplier. Emailed and called me as soon as the items I shipped for return were received. Informed me I had $30 left to spend and SCOURED THE STORE SALE RACK to find me an adorable pair of shorts, sending photos once more! Priority mailed my items so I could sport my Lilly at a Labor Day event!!
I'm SURE I was "that" customer for sweet Karsen, but she never let me know it! This woman deserves a raise, and should absolutely receive recognition for going above and beyond.
Karsen's commitment to excellent service is why my bargain shopping Mother splurges on us girls each year at The Island Cabana. I can't wait to return next summer and finally meet her in person!

Read morePer their response: She was standing there but never once offered or asked if I needed anything or assisted besides the looks and short remarks. Obviously, I’m not the only one that has experienced the rudeness (several from just within the last year). And I know for a fact this particular item wasn’t looked at because it came from the back and was still folded in its original form. Partially my fault for being in a rush (literally the entire family was packed in the car) and having to wait for them to write allll my info down as the card machine was down. I guess the customers are the only ones that should be understanding and flexible. I should have known to check it. But, poor customer service to not acknowledge fault on your end. If boutiques want to last, they need to learn to keep up with chain customer service and have some etiquette. Word of mouth is your friend! Best of luck.
Original: Had a similar experience as the post above me. Apparently we arrived close to closing, without realizing it. We were made to feel very uncomfortable as one employee stood at the entrance of the changing room and gave us rude looks and remarks. I ended up leaving that night with nothing. I should have stuck to my guns, but went back for something that caught my eye. Unpacked this, looked it over, and found this defect. Obviously a manufacturing defect that I didn’t catch in my hurry to buy it as we were leaving town, their card machine was down, and other things happening at once. Called to mention it and was told no because I have taken the tag off (not in this location), even though it was within a month. I'm a regular shopper there on my AMI visits, and have always been a fan, but my last visit in August was The BOMB. 📣Huge shout out to the Amazing, Kelly Day, who went Above and Beyond to help me with my Lilly Pulitzer splurge!! Before all was said and done, she must have helped me pull about 100 different outfits to try on, and suggest pretty jewelry selections to match. Her Level of Customer Service sets the bar High. She is golden, if you are lucky enough to have her help you with picking out the prettiest Lilly Pulitzer's in the store. Some of the items I purchased, they even shipped home for me so I didn't have to travel with it all. The selection of Lilly in size XL literally blew away any other Lilly store I shop, which made buying super easy. Kelly never once made me feel bad about how much clothing I had pulled to try on, and she was candidly honest with her opinions on what looked good, and what didn't.
