Checked out this store last Sunday for the first time. Just loved it! The owner & employees are all wonderful. The store carries a nice collection of reptiles at good prices.. Came home with a Crested Gecko. Their reptiles all look happy & healthy! Love the fact that they also carry Pangea Crested Gecko food! Loved the store so much that we came back the next night to purchase the Bearded Dragon we fell in love with the day before. Although the store is further from my house then other reptile stores (I live in Lakewood), I definitely prefer this one!
Note: To the person who purchased feeder rats as pets from a reptile store.. I own pet rats and all rats carry myco. Any rat you purchase, whether it be from Petco or Petsmart (they are worst) will have it since they get their rats from "rat mills". The rats that this store sells are for feeders and I'm 100% confident that they are healthy. Since their lives are not meant to be long, it doesn't matter what the owner keeps them in.. They won't be in pine or cedar long enough to even have a horrible effect on them. Sorry, but I have to agree with the owner's response to you. I own multiple rats and the healthiest rats I have purchased are those from reptile stores. Whenever a rat is under any type of stress.. they will have a "myco attack".. It is why I carry Doxy on me at all times. Whenever any type of stress happens, they will start sneezing.. it doesn't mean that the rat is unhealthy. It is just the way rats are. If you want a healthier rat, I would seek out a breeder, however, you will encounter the same problem.. I don't care what any breeder tries to tell you.. The best results I've had are from reptile stores...
Read moreStay away from this place! Their markup prices would be comical if they weren't so sad. You can get much better deals in other stores. Don't even get me started on their feeders....I bought some and upon closer examination it became quite apparent that these organisms might be sick and could seriously be detrimental to the health of your beloved pet if given as food. Worst of all there is no return policy. I can understand a store refusing to accept a return after being taken home for a few days. But I was pretty much walking out the door when I realized my mistake.
Worst of all, the kid at the register became snarky and condescending when I informed him that it was shopping for my Chameleon who I keep in a glass terrarium. Contrary to popular belief, chameleons can thrive in glass terrariums given the proper set up and ventilation. Europeans have been doing it for decades as it is very hard to keep the adequate parameters in their climate with screen cages. I guess herpetologists over the Atlantic have been doing it wrong all these years. Prick!
The store itself is cluttered, dirty and smelly. It looks like an illegal garage sale!
If you are in the Metro area and want to support local business the Reptile Room in Wheat Ridge or any of the Scales N' Tails stores are much better choices. Heck even Petco is better (supports local...
Read moreTo the guy who is angry about the feeder rats: These are not supposed to be pets, breeders keep rats on pine and cedar without issues all the time, and a sick rat will not impact my snake.
I actually came here about a month ago, and all of the feeders were healthy. About 20 feeders, and all were fine. If you're intending to get a pet, you should be looking at eyes ears and coats prior to purchasing. Mother Nature isn't 100%. A few sick rats does not mean the whole operation is busted. The feeders we got looked great, and were actually a little bigger than what we usually get so that was cool. My husband and I have 20 snakes, and the guy was super accomodating, and was able to decipher my list and get me what I needed. The only reason we didn't come back is because we live in Denver, and we were really just exploring that day. It's a bit of a hike for us.
The store was clean, employees were kind. The only thing I was bummed about is their snake selection being very minimal. However; if you are looking for lizards or spiders or other crawlers, this place had a lot of nifty critters to choose from. My preference to snakes doesn't make this a bad store. If you guys start to get into snakes more, please let me know so I can come...
