My new million dollar home is a total mixed bag. The overall design is great, but execution is spotty to say the least. Some subcontractors did great work (tilers), but others are straight horrendous (U.S. Painting). In addition, once some finishes were in, other subcontractors didn't protect or respect them at all, so almost all finishes were damaged by closing, some in extreme conditions. And the home warranty process is a joke - almost none of the damage was actually repaired or replaced, rather they send in a team with a big box of various complicated spray paints to bandage over damaged sections (hundreds of chips on flooring throughout, all indoor railings, both bathtubs, sinks, windows - you name it). It's only been a few months and I'm very meticulous about taking care of my stuff, yet my expensive quartize kitchen counters and back splashes are already severely stained, because they weren't sealed properly when installed. I need to replace quite a few cabinet doors badly scratched in the building process. I find new things at least weekly that the builder's contractors damaged or did wrong, to add to my own large list of repairs and replacements.
Further, as we've entered the winter season, I've had bathroom water pipes freeze and it took Remington a week to do anything about it. Having a main floor bathroom being unusable for a full 6 days is unacceptable. They decided what they wanted to do without coming onsite and investigating or viewing anything. And when we cut holes we discovered that there was absolutely no insulation at all. None. And at this moment Remington refuses to provide any heating/air conditioning reimbursement due to their failure to insulate or do anything to investigate what else they should be doing to meet their legal obligations. Pictures attached are of my bathroom floor over the open-air front porch - not...
Read moreWe moved into our Remington home a month ago and absolutely love it! This is our first home which led to us having many questions and being unsure of the process. Cory was a dream to work with! He patiently answered all of our questions, addressed our concerns, kept us up to speed with the progress of our home, and quickly resolved any issues that arose. Jim, the project manager, was also wonderful to work with and very responsive! He also answered our many questions, accommodated to our requests/needs, and was quick to resolve any issues. Since moving in, there have been a few issues that have required almost immediate attention. We reached out to the warranty company and they sent someone over right away to fix the imperative issues. We have waited a couple of weeks for one of our issues to be fixed, but it is not an emergency and someone should be here tomorrow. Overall, we are very pleased with our home buying experience with...
Read moreIf you choose to buy a home from this builder make sure all of the home around yours are done. If they are not be prepared to put up with the construction workers blasting your house with music all day every day including weekends and holidays. They will also leave their trash all around the property and will allow it to blow into your yard. You can forget about using the sidewalks near your house because they will leave construction debris on them for months at an time and the sidewalk will be completely impassable. I also hope you like getting new tires because they refuse to clean up their mess and inevitably their left over screws and nails will make it into your tires over and over again. The people in charge of the build sites are unresponsive and could not care less about maintaining clean build sites or allowing you to enjoy peace and comfort in your own home. Stay away from these guys......
