I have been a frequent shopper of Hobby Lobby for several years. In fact I'm sure I've spent several thousand dollars in this store, much more money than most people would typically spend there. I decorated my daughter's entire wedding with purchases from that store. I've purchased multiple items for advertising as well as game/craft use for a few of the non profit organizations I'm affiliated with. I also most recently purchased most of the items to do my son's memorials with and so much more. Today I go in there to see if they had a yard ornament I've been looking for and I ended up finding some plates with lemons that I had bought the day before on the East side. They weren't priced so I asked one of the employees, one I've seen frequently, how much they were. I had just bought three of the same item on the East side the day before but couldn't remember. I knew they were on clearance just not if they had been the day before. This employee, very rudely starts picking up huge platters and looking at their prices then comes at me with a $19.99 price tag. I was flabbergasted. I told her I was shocked and I was sure I didn't pay that much for them on the East side. Without spelling out the whole scenario, she got this snotty attitude like I was lying and trying to scam them over some stupid plates with lemons on them. I told her I was going to go home and find my receipt to see how much I paid because I knew I wouldn't have paid $20.00 (even discounted) for a couple of lunch plates. I put the other things back that I was going to buy and went to my car thinking the receipt might still even be in there from the day before. It ends up the plates I bought the day before were too so I brought one in and took it up to the manager at the desk. She was aware of the situation as this employee apparently called her and clearly together they were going to make sure I wasn't going to scam them over these plates. I was so angry at the ignorance and the inadequate explanation that I was given that I almost didn't want to purchase them. The attitude of the staff is appalling and the manager I spoke with was equally so. I will certainly look else wear from now on when I want to work on larger projects. In fact I would rather pay double somewhere else than deal with their condescending attitude. I can't even believe the ignorance from not just one but several staff members in that store. One of the first managers I ever met, that I really like and thought was very decent, walked in as I was dealing with this issue so I waved at him. Too bad that someone's ego and ignorance is going to cost them loyal customers. Customers who actually consistently spend money in...
Read moreI spend a lot of time and money at Hobby Lobby and have had mostly good experiences until today when I talked with April, the West side Green Bay Customer Manager. When I pulled into the parking lot I realized I had forgotten my phone at work to access the 40% off coupon. So before I even began shopping, I stopped April to let her know of my situation and ask if there was another way I could take advantage of the 40% off. She immediately said, no!! I asked again as I had seen others use a coupon they had at the register and she said, unfortunately we don't have coupons for your use at the registers any more. I told her I had driven 10 miles to pick up a few things and really hated to have to turn around to get my phone and come back - still a 'sorry - can't help you' attitude so I walked out. Two lessons here: 1. April appeared to be training a new employee I'm guessing for the holiday season. What a great opportunity for April to show empathy to my situation and talk through a solution to my issue?! (afterall, I was stressed about forgetting my phone for a lot of reasons). 2. April had no idea if I was there to spend $20 or $500. What a lost sales opportunity over what was likely going to be a few dollars in a coupon. I work in customer service and the experience is #1. I'm not saying she should have given me anything other than options or perhaps a bit more background on 'why'. I guess I could have tried to beat the system by asking a stranger to use his/her phone to access the coupon - but why?! I will just bring my business elsewhere. An opportunity for Hobby Lobby to provide empowerment coaching - especially to that new hire who could have learned a lot in how to make a potentially bad situation a win/win?! Long story short - I...
Read moreI don’t really think to shop here too often, but when I do, I always find a lot of things. Prices are good, and the store is very clean. The place is huge and has tons of items, I need to schedule myself better when I know I’m coming here because I can spend quite a bit of time looking through everything. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is the checkouts. It takes a long time. I was very frustrated because a cashier was opening her line, and didn’t say anything. I was clearly waiting a long time and was the next person waiting to check out- nobody was behind me in the lines. When she opened her line, another customer rushed to it with her huge cart of items- she just got to the checkout area and was able to be served right away when I had been waiting for a while. She really should have told me she was opening. But, the staff is very friendly- even if this one cashier was a tiny...
