sometimes you walk into a space and immediately understand what it means to choose your belongings with intention. Short Wave in Astoria isn't about quick purchases or fleeting trends—it's about finding objects that become quiet companions in your daily ritual of living. slow goods for thoughtful living. locally crafted pieces that carry the fingerprints of makers who take pride in their work. wool socks that soften over time, handmade ceramics that feel right in your palm, stationery sets that make letter-writing feel sacred again. bamboo toothbrushes, rustic brass bell garlands, chef pants you'll wear four times in one week because they're just that good. owner Ari has built something rare here—a shop where every object is chosen for its low environmental impact, ethical labor practices, and the kind of quality craftsmanship that means you'll use it for years, not seasons. where buying less becomes a practice in living more. where your home holds only what you truly cherish. this is the antidote to algorithm-fed consumption. this is what it looks like when you curate your life instead of accumulating it. when the things you own earn their place not through impulse but through intention. when you can walk into your kitchen, reach for your favorite mug, and feel the hands that shaped it. the Pacific Northwest understands this—the value of things made to last, the beauty of supporting local makers, the quiet rebellion of choosing quality over quantity. Short Wave is proof that thoughtful living isn't about deprivation. it's about connection. to the objects you use. to the people who made them. to the life you're intentionally building. 📍 255 14th St, Astoria, OR 97103 📞 (503) 308-9014 🌐 shortwaveastoria.com 📷 @shortwaveshop ⏰ Mon-Tues & Thurs-Sat: 11am-6pm | Sun: 11am-4pm | Wed: Closed A Few of the Featured Brands @Imaginary Authors @Phoebe Wahl @kaweco.germany #AstoriaOregon #SlowLiving #ConsciousConsumer #PNWLife #IntentionalLiving

Fantastic woman-owned shop in downtown Astoria. Great place for gifts, most of which are made in Oregon. I bought a tunic sweater here last year and it quickly became one of my favorite pieces. This year, I opted to do an online order and in-store pickup (curbside is also available) of an adorable container made from recycled skateboards. Will be back again whenever we are in the area!

Having followed Short Wave on Instagram for some time, I was pleased as punch to check them out when I finally made it to Astoria. I have since returned multiple times and it is somehow even cuter in person!

They have so many unique goodies whether shopping for a gift or yourself: prints and other artwork, stationary, ceramics (including such cute mugs), art supplies (indigenous handmade paints!), bath and body items (Wato soap, yes please!), housewares, treats, adorable accessories and clothing, etc. Many items are local, too!

They are always really friendly and nice in the shop, and it’s just such a pleasure to wander. I honestly think my mom, sisters, and I nearly spent an hour there.

If you can, time it so you can check out the Sunday Astoria Farmers market while there. Parking is not great as it’s right in the middle of downtown Astoria, but that’s just the nature of the beast,...

Short Wave is one of my favorite shops in any town I’ve ever visited in the world. Astoria is very lucky to have it. The curation and quality of every good sold keeps me coming back every single time I’m in town. I love buying gifts for my girl friends who aren’t the easiest to buy for and the gifts through the years have run the gamut…tool boxes, earrings, candies, socks, sharp-as-hell knives, stationary… and they’re always a hit. I also commonly come away with something for myself and when I do, it’s highly complemented when it’s clothing. I’m currently burning a candle from Short Wave and it’s such a beautiful scent. If my husband knows what’s up, he’ll be buying gifts for me here (hey, Alex!). To the owner… small business is hard and can be soul sucking. I hope you know how incredible I think your shop is and I hope you continue it for many...

I live in Portland and Short Wave is one of those stores that stick in my mind even when I am not in Astoria. I always make it a point to stop here when I am in town, it is so cute and perfect. Sometimes tiny curated stores can feel intimidating, but Short Wave is quite the opposite. It's the perfect place to go for a small gift or an outfit staple. You can find items that are super affordable and durable - my two favorite beanies are from Short Wave and they get a lot of use and are still in top shape and I think they were like $22 each. A lot of locally made products as well!!!! Anyway, I could go on and on, but I am glad cute, thoughtful shops like this still exist, Short Wave is one of...
