Having followed Short Wave on Instagram for some time, I was pleased as punch to check them out when I finally made it to Astoria. I have since returned multiple times and it is somehow even cuter in person!
They have so many unique goodies whether shopping for a gift or yourself: prints and other artwork, stationary, ceramics (including such cute mugs), art supplies (indigenous handmade paints!), bath and body items (Wato soap, yes please!), housewares, treats, adorable accessories and clothing, etc. Many items are local, too!
They are always really friendly and nice in the shop, and itās just such a pleasure to wander. I honestly think my mom, sisters, and I nearly spent an hour there.
If you can, time it so you can check out the Sunday Astoria Farmers market while there. Parking is not great as itās right in the middle of downtown Astoria, but thatās just the nature of the beast,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreShort Wave is one of my favorite shops in any town Iāve ever visited in the world. Astoria is very lucky to have it. The curation and quality of every good sold keeps me coming back every single time Iām in town. I love buying gifts for my girl friends who arenāt the easiest to buy for and the gifts through the years have run the gamutā¦tool boxes, earrings, candies, socks, sharp-as-hell knives, stationary⦠and theyāre always a hit. I also commonly come away with something for myself and when I do, itās highly complemented when itās clothing. Iām currently burning a candle from Short Wave and itās such a beautiful scent. If my husband knows whatās up, heāll be buying gifts for me here (hey, Alex!). To the owner⦠small business is hard and can be soul sucking. I hope you know how incredible I think your shop is and I hope you continue it for many...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI live in Portland and Short Wave is one of those stores that stick in my mind even when I am not in Astoria. I always make it a point to stop here when I am in town, it is so cute and perfect. Sometimes tiny curated stores can feel intimidating, but Short Wave is quite the opposite. It's the perfect place to go for a small gift or an outfit staple. You can find items that are super affordable and durable - my two favorite beanies are from Short Wave and they get a lot of use and are still in top shape and I think they were like $22 each. A lot of locally made products as well!!!! Anyway, I could go on and on, but I am glad cute, thoughtful shops like this still exist, Short Wave is one of...
