United Grocery Outlet — Local services in Athens

Bad experience at this store !! I’ve shopped ugo’s throughout the region. We usually shop at the hwy. 58 store in Chattanooga. The Athens store is very clean and they had many products that the 58 store doesn’t carry, so overall I was impressed with the store. Until we attempted to check out the cashier was very friendly and I believe did his best. After everything was scanned and I attempted to pay the register totally locked up. The cashier made several attempts but it wouldn’t do anything. He asked a manager to help him , and the guy tells him , in a disturbing tone “if you can’t do it , I can’t “ And went on about his business. At that point we had been in line for 15 minutes. He finally finished his “business “ and came over and rebooted the register (another 10 minutes)and the total came up $ 51.24 but now the keypad is locked up and won’t except my pin. After rebooting the keypad (another 10 minutes) no luck. At that point I said ok I’ll pay cash no problem. But undoubtedly he had a problem he refused the cash and told us we would have to get back in line and go through another register. There was an elderly lady behind me with a full buggy who had placed all her items on the counter she had to put them all back in the buggy and go to another register. She was obviously having a hard time managing but she wasn’t offered any assistance. We told them they could restock our stuff and we went to Food City. I think the management at this store need to #1 learn to operate the equipment #2 work on your people skills. I’d like to say I’ve been shopping at UGO stores for 10 years and this is the first problem we’ve had. I guess Brody is just one of their...

I just wanted to say, I love the large buggies this store has, they make it so convenient to buy a whole weeks worth of groceries for the children instead of only being able to buy only a few days worth of food.. I also wanted to say how clean and well kept this store is, it is the very best grocery store within a 60 mile radius of Athens. The prices are always the best the quality of products is always the best because of how well the store is run. I don't know who runs this store, they are a blessing from God to the people, this I do know. I Love my UGO, No Doubt its a five star grocery outlet...

Love this store and the bargains that I find here. The variety is fantastic and I always leave with a cart full of yummy food and monetary savings. A huge negative though is that I live in Cleveland and the one there is absolutely horrible and no comparison to the two others that I have shopped in at Athens and Chattanooga area. I like shopping at UGO so much that I have written into the corporate office about putting one that is worthwhile to shop at in Cleveland so I don't have to drive miles to get good bargains which the distance limits my trips to...
