After attending the Independence Day Double Dinner Feature last night, and as a fellow business owner in a Small Town, I have to say the following things about the AMP:
Considering the over a DECADE our tiny town went without a Theatre forcing us to drive half an hour or more to a clean theatre with clean bathrooms, AIR conditioning, without mosquitos, to watch a movie the prices for the tickets, drinks, popcorn, etc... are wonderful for my wallet when I know they could, and probably should, be a little higher based on the larger theatre prices...and distances. (i.e. My time is money, and they really save me on Gas, drive time, wear & tear on my vehicle, bug spray, holding my bladder, and spare me the temptation to go spend more money on things I don't really need...because I was either outside, AT the Mall, or had to pass by the mall, to get to a decent theatre and be surrounded by loads of other unnecessary items looking to take my money.)
Based on the CODB (Cost of Doing Business) all businesses have, especially small and independent ones, and having lived and stayed in enormous cities, their prices really are amazing considering the beautiful facility, amount of staff, number of screens/offerings in such a small town (and space), and truthfully I sort of feel a little guilty paying so little when they save me so much (see #1)!
So, AMP mangers, and staff, I applaud you, and THANK YOU for not only being the Best Theatre in our town, for a Steal Of a Deal to boot when all is said and done, but for choosing to enrich our local economy!
You could've not, you could've built elsewhere, but, no, you chose to give our youth and families something nice to do locally all year long, AND you chose to help us keep McMinn County $$ in McMinn...
Read more1 star is too good of a review. My wife purchased tickets at 8:21 AM today for a 11:45 showing of Moana 2. We weren’t buying concessions, so we show up at 11:35 to take seats in the theatre. However, we are told we have to wait in line behind 50-60 people buying concessions just to get a physical copy of our tickets. This caused us to miss the start of the movie and did not get to sit down until 12:05. We had to sit on the floor of the theatre because there were not enough seats available. Calling this place a “business” would be disrespectful to all other businesses. What a terribly flawed system to sell “online tickets” but still make you wait in line. “Hey! We’ll take your money early but you still have to wait in line.” When we asked the lady at the counter the reason for still having to wait in line, she was super rude. Will not be spending another dime at this place and will make sure none of our friends and family do either. The same people who get upset for people not “buying local” are the same people who run a “business” so poorly that their customers can’t wait to leave and not come back. I’d drive my family across state lines to another theatre before I visited the movie palace ever...
Read moreI give it a solid 3. My wife some friends and myself went to watch "IT" on 9/08/2017. I have to say the movie was great. And the Palace is a great venue to watch at. The seating is amazing, concessions were fairly priced and the ambiance was great. However, after the movie was over we walk outside to get ready to leave when our car was struck with a rock while we were sitting in our car. My wife left a review for the Palace and got an interesting response in my opinion. My wife went in the venue and asked for managment and waited longer than she wanted I guess. Then while we were standing outside the security guard came out but did not care to talk with us about the incident. I did show him who was throwing the rocks and he escorted them in the building. We was not adressed about anything. I checked our car for damage and saw a small maybe two inch scratch. I have no intentions of filing a police report due to the lack of "costly damage". Other than that little incident I belive that "Athens Movie Palace" is a wonderful venue to catch a good flick. I do recomend "Athens Movie Palace" to all movie lovers. We will visit again because overall we had a great experience. Thank you Athens...
