I would not work with Rosey again and here's why. I reached out to him via ig dm bc i liked one of his recent tattoos. He was open to the work and i told him i would be flying from NY to ATL to be tattood. We confirmed about a month in advanced and he told me he would send me a draft of his drawing. About a week before i flew out i contacted him again to see if a draft was ready. There was none. He said he would get me one by friday. My appointment was for the next Wednesday. Friday i did not get one and i reminded him on Sunday that i would be flying out and wanted to confirm - he says he would get me a drawing by the next day. Didn't happen. Tuesday evening is when i got the first draft drawing in this review which i obviously was not happy with. Long story short. In person the vibe was completely off. He clearly did not respect me or want to honor the design that I wanted and then i felt pressured into getting the tattoo anyway. During the tattoo he constantly had conversation right over me with the next artist. There was alot of male mysogynistic energy that felt very uncomfortable. Things were made worst by then openly hazing the two young women who work there telling them things like you're not allowed to talk and calling them the nick name "mouse" . I left feeling traumatized and disgusted. Weird vibes. Would never patronize again and still very mad at myself for sitting through the...

I have visited this shop before and had an amazing conversation with a female artist but when I went there yesterday, she wasn't there/available. I met Mr. Chris Carter, and he immediately greeted me and asked me to take a seat. He was very cordial. I showed him what I wanted to do and he suggested two artists, Prophet? (A dude that looks like DJ Khalid with a beard of Rick Ross) or this tall neo-soul looking dude, named Tupicalo. Well Prophet, had a client coming in so I was placed in the capable hands of Tupicalo. He looked at my ideas, spoke with me as a partner, really listened to me and made gentle suggestions. He drew it and placed it on me. Took pictures and made sure I liked it. He then inked my tattoo. It really didn't hurt much. He asked me during the procedure, how I was doing. And Mr. Carter came by and asked me too, if I was ok? Who does that?! Love this place! I'm coming back. I will tell everyone that's looking for body art, please look to these people. Every one is so warm. They were talking about hip hop, etc. I loved the vibe in this place. Hey, I got 7 older brothers, so I get...
Read moreI had such a great experience at COI! How amazing is it to find a tattoo shop owned and employed by black tattoo artists?! I support the black community and have told all my friends of this amazing shop!! I follow most of the artists on IG, and they all have their own creative styles and they are all amazing! So it doesn't matter what type of tattoo you are looking for there is someone here that will bring your ideas to reality!!
I unfortunately had to reschedule my tattoo due to me being out of town, or not in town long enough and my artist Kandace was more than understanding! Brittany and Chris Carter always called to confirm my appts or reschedule them for me, and they were so friendly and helpful. I've been in shops before where nobody will even look at you, so thank you City of Ink for making me feel so comfortable and welcome in the shop.
My tattoo is still in progress, but I am very pleased with the art as well as the experience. Kandace is amazing, and I can't wait for her to do more pieces...
