Omni Coffee & Eggs: A Symphony of Flavor and Elegance
Tucked away in a charming corner Castleberry, Omni Coffee & Eggs delivers a culinary experience that transcends the ordinary, weaving together flavors and textures that linger in memory long after the last bite. My recent visit was nothing short of exceptional, earning a well-deserved five-star rating.
The Beverages: A Royal Affair
Omni’s coffee offerings are nothing short of regal. I began with the King Midas, a biscotti-infused brew that was both rich and smooth. This cup carried a subtle sweetness, reminiscent of the classic Italian treat, without overwhelming the palate—a perfect balance of robust coffee flavor and delicate, nutty undertones.
Next, the Queen’s Chalice, inspired by tiramisu, was a revelation. This coffee captured the essence of the iconic dessert, with velvety notes of cocoa and mascarpone dancing with the deep, aromatic espresso. It was indulgence in a cup, every sip offering a new layer of flavor complexity, making it a truly regal experience.
The Dishes: Breakfast Elevated
The food at Omni Coffee & Eggs mirrors the sophistication of its beverages. The Cinnamon Roll was a masterclass in pastry—soft, pillowy, and generously swirled with a cinnamon-sugar mixture that struck the perfect balance between sweetness and spice. The glaze was light, adding just enough sweetness without overshadowing the rich, buttery dough.
The Shrimp and Grits took a Southern classic and elevated it to new heights. The grits were creamy and smooth, providing a perfect canvas for the plump, juicy shrimp, which were cooked to perfection. The dish was expertly seasoned, with a slight kick that added depth without overwhelming the natural flavors of the shrimp and grits. It was comfort food, reimagined with a gourmet twist.
The Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on a Maple Croissant was the standout of the meal. The croissant, with its delicate layers and subtle maple sweetness, provided the perfect vessel for the salty, savory bacon and the rich, velvety egg and cheese filling. Each bite was a harmonious blend of sweet and savory, with the buttery croissant adding an extra layer of indulgence that made this breakfast sandwich unforgettable.
Finally, the Orange Juice was the perfect palate cleanser. Freshly squeezed and vibrant, it was a refreshing contrast to the rich flavors of the meal, adding a burst of citrusy brightness that tied everything together.
Conclusion
Omni Coffee & Eggs isn’t just a place to grab breakfast—it’s a destination for those who appreciate the finer things in life. Every dish and drink served feels thoughtfully crafted, from the first sip of coffee to the last bite of croissant. Whether you’re in search of an extraordinary breakfast or simply a perfect cup of coffee, Omni delivers on all fronts, making it a must-visit for food lovers and coffee...
Read moreCame in with a large party and ordered breakfast and coffee. The atmosphere was pretty cool and we were greeted by what I think was the manger, who tried to give us a quick intro about the place. It was hard to hear because there was a saxophonist loudly playing for tips right behind her. Overall, the theme was cool. It was hot in there, but my guess would be that they were trying to save money on their electric bill by just keeping the door open.
You have to order from the register then take a seat and have your food brought to you. I’m okay with that, but when you pay, they build in 18%, 20% and 22% tip, which seemed excessive for someone just dropping food off to your table.
While waiting in line, one of the staff had an acquaintance who came in after we did text him her order, and he ushered in her order before taking mine. He had no clue what he was doing at the register and it took several minutes for him to put the order in. This was very unprofessional, tasteless, and rude.
I ordered two identical coffees and they only brought one to the table. When I mentioned that there should be two coffees, the food runner just nodded and walked away. I didn’t know if she heard me due to the saxophonist, so I thought I’d say something to the other young lady that seemed to be also helping to deliver the food. When I asked the second girl about 10 minutes later, she sharply cut me off, saying, “it’s coming!” Over the next 5 minutes or so, I noticed other people getting served coffee so I figured at that point i had triggered the food runner and therefore needed to talk to the manager. I’d did so, and she brought me a coffee within a minute or so. They made it extra hot, which I really like, so that made up for some of it. And the coffee was probably one of the better ones I’ve had in a long time.
The food was meh….the biscuits looked like they were canned, the potatoes were mushy with no crust, although the flavor was ok. They served the breakfast sandwiches with cold cheese on them, and the croissant looked more like a flat cinnamon bun with syrup drizzled over it. The eggs had the texture of powdered eggs, but that could have been a result of how they were prepared.
Not once did any of the staff come to check on our meal except for the one who initially greeted us. If I had to pick a bright spot for this place, she presented herself in that manner.
All in all, I think they spend too much time on the gimmicky side of presenting the restaurant and not enough energy on being professional, efficient, and customer focused. Or maybe they are trying but just have a couple of bad apples as employees. Maybe that’s why they had space for 10 on a Saturday morning with no wait?
For the money we spent, I would’ve expected a better experience. I think the young lady who greeted us is a star, and hope whoever owns that place can find better people to...
Read moreMan, Omi Cafe and Eggs is a hidden gem in Atlanta, no cap. Rolled in on a Sunday, trying to wrap up my wife's birthday weekend on a high note. From the outside, you'd miss it if not for the red carpet and VIP ropes. I was like, "Here we go, another spot for Instagram flexing," but nah, it was different.
Stepping in felt like walking into some sort of magical, Black renaissance café. Imagine if black knights from medieval England were chilling with the locals over coffee—yeah, that kind of vibe. Art and collectibles all around, straight-up giving you those colonial Britain feels.
Now, the menu's where the magic's at. Creative names that don't just tickle your curiosity; they deliver on taste too. My wife went for the Monarch shrimp and grits and was blown away. I had the Omi Bowl—eggs, potatoes, sausage, and some next-level sauce that I can't even describe. Trust me, I don't even like salad dressing, but this was something else.
The portions are generous. We're talking 'bout that food coma generous. For those with a sweet tooth, the cinnamon bun and peach cobbler latte are a must-try. Even took a sweet potato pie latte for the road, and let me tell you, it tasted like grandma's cooking.
Customer service? A1. The owner and manager are on point, checking in but not in an annoying way. And, get this, they had a live sax player. Normally, I can't stand live music, but the sound was so well-balanced it felt like soft radio playing in the background.
So, here's the deal: if you're a couple or a parent looking for an authentic café experience that teleports you somewhere else, Omi's the spot. Parking's metered, and the tab was about $60 for two—reasonable for the experience.
Only critique? They've got this big portrait of a white woman that feels out of place. Swap that out for some black royalty, and you've got the full English Omi package.
Black-owned, top-notch, 5-star experience. I'm definitely going back, and...
