Management is interesting…. My decision to leave Mira was simplified due to the support of my employer (Microsoft) after the company initially relocated me from out of town. Management's handling of my situations, coupled with their trigger-happy attitude towards legal measures, was disappointing and frankly alarming. For example, abruptly shutting down a resident payment portal on the second day of the month and mandating cashier's checks within 24 hours, especially during a holiday weekend when many are out of town, including management themselves, left me feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable in my own home. Especially, after never having this issue prior and being told that I wouldn’t be fined a late fee because of my reasonably prompt payments. It doesn’t make sense.
This is not a cheap place for Atlanta and doesn’t offer much in terms of amenities besides being new at the time. Despite the high costs, issues with management and its limited amenities, I was willing to consider renewal, albeit reluctantly due to the hassle of moving. I really don’t like moving…However, management doesn’t make a real effort to negotiate. The building still has many units available (including mine nearly 5 months later) and is still offering the same 2 months free to the renter (3 months if someone comes with an agent). If you think, you’ll be able to work with them, you won’t. The common sense behind the finances don’t make sense… unless the developer is writing off loses to vacant units and is profitable that way.
You’d think it would be a good business decision to at least offer a month free on a $~2800 a month unit and lock in the renewal vs. having the unit vacant and paying for the acquisition of a new renter. As of the day I’m making this review, Mira has also “graciously” dropped the base price of the unit I was in by nearly $200. At the time of my renewal, I was offered a $15 decrease and a $1000 AMEX card (only after I questioned the renewal offer). The reasoning of the “ gracious decrease” during that renewal cited worsened market conditions which were debatably worse from a Macro level than now.
Overall, despite their recent price reduction, the lackluster renewal offer, including a mere $15 decrease and a $1000 AMEX, further highlights their disregard for tenant satisfaction. You can get the same or better units around the area at $1000 less base price and get the same concessions. New buildings are being built and they are awesome and (now) newer than Mira! Moreover, the reviews here come from majority of folks who still haven’t lived at Mira for very long. Mira had events in which they asked for positive reviews in exchange for a cocktail or party favor. Please be smart and save the anxiety. The list of problems go beyond what I have...
Read more[Facility & Staff] Clean, well-maintained apartment. Mira offers excellent virtual tours (very rare in Midtown Atlanta). Concierge staff, especially Ramon(left) and Quin are professional and patient with remote viewings - what you see is what you get.
[Warning - MAJOR ISSUE] Today I learned they charge for natural wear and tear. I've only been here 3 months (pictures attached).
The BBQ grill, which I never used, shows minor peeling from previous tenant - I didn't report it at move-in because reporting such natural wear would be obnoxious. The previous tenant lived here one year, these marks are normal usage. No building stays brand new forever. If inspection is this detailed, either I should have reported every tiny mark, or they should replace everything before new tenants move in.
The bathroom cabinet shows water damage from their flawed design - counter edge flush with cabinet makes water damage unavoidable.
$2,300/month for 600sqft in Atlanta, yet they expect the apartment kept like you never lived here. It's like a hotel charging you for using appliances that are included in room cost - ridiculous and impossible. I'm single, neat, work in office, rarely cook - if I can't meet these impossible standards, how do families manage?
This isn't just about money - it's wasting time and energy. Am I living in the apartment, or is the apartment living me? Must keep 200% cautious on daily use to avoid natural wear and tear besides work and chores - heavy burden.
[Application Process] Despite 750 credit score and complete documentation (SSN, offer letter, bank statements), they demanded calls to my supervisor to prove my offer is true and bank verification calls to prove my account is my account. I even offered to pay full year's rent to avoid this procedure - so intrusive, and not being respected. This is apartment rental, not house buying. And I am a citizen, not a criminal.
[Conclusion] Good if you're new to the city, but think twice if you can adapt to this rigid vibe - because once you choose, reversing course takes...
Read moreI recently moved into Mira Midtown and have been so so impressed! The leasing agent I worked with from inquiry to move in was absolutely amazing. She is extremely detail oriented and thoroughly explained all of the amenities, floor plans, and unit finishes and helped me choose the perfect unit in addition to being very responsive to all my questions and concerns throughout the application process. Additionally, the property manager, Matt and the rest of the leasing team and concierge staff have been incredibly accommodating and welcoming and have known my name and unit number since move in day. Aside from the amenities, location, and building decor, the biggest selling point for me was the service I received from the management team as this can make or break a living experience.
As the building is brand new construction and being one of the first residents to move in, I expected there to a hiccup or two however that has not been the case. My move in process was incredibly smooth with an absolutely spotless unit at move in and the responsiveness and service from the maintenance team has been overly impressive. For example, there was a tiny piece of plastic that had floated onto the exterior of my window (several stories up) and the maintenance staff was able to have it removed the same day! My studio floor plan is unique and perfectly fits my needs. The lighting in the unit is gorgeous and there is very thoughtful storage and built ins to make the most of a smaller space.
During my apartment search, I toured several other properties in Midtown and can say with confidence the location, amenities, management, and quality of the units are unmatched to Mira. This is truly a luxury building but I feel it is very competitively priced and I couldn’t be happier with the value I have received.
I am so excited to call Mira Midtown home and cannot recommend it...
