I visited the store today, and while completing my payment and gathering my items, my little dog started barking. I did my best to calm her, but she wouldn’t stop, so we hurried to leave the store as quickly as possible. Suddenly, Gina McCauley shouted at us "You need to leave immediately", even though she could see we were already trying to leave.
We quietly exited without saying a word because we understand that a barking dog can be disruptive. Later, I returned to the store and returned everything I had purchased. The other customer service representatives were empathetic and acknowledged that I was treated poorly, as though I had committed a crime in the store. One kind representative even offered me a discount for my next visit, but I declined, explaining that money can’t fix everything and that I wouldn’t be coming back.
She also asked if I wanted to speak with Gina, but I declined, as I didn’t see the value in engaging with someone who lacked basic courtesy. Gina’s behavior was not only unprofessional but also discriminatory, as she failed to provide assistance when it was most needed. Had she handled the situation appropriately, she could have politely asked us to leave or kindly inquired if we needed help. For instance, she could have offered to assist by helping us pack our items or carry them while we worked to calm our dog.
