EMPLOYEE REVIEW: I have always loved this store! I have spent PLENTY of money in World market through the years… I don’t usually cry “shopping while black”. BUT after being followed around the store, nonstop by Jen or Jan, whatever her name is, (Heavy set middle aged lady, shoulder cut bob, in the pink sweater.)… anyone? I have to call it as it was. Granted, I was in there for a couple of hours. (Even though it’s near my home, I drove quite a distance from an early morning appointment, just to get a specific tea they sell there, for someone I love.) Anyone who’s been in world market knows there are many, MANNNNY, awesome things to look at and marvel over! Now maybe if I was In there for a couple of hours with a giant tote that seemed to be filling up… But all I had was my basic coach purse, my phone, a very full cart, and believe it or not lady, more than enough money to pay for what was in my cart. Maybe I’m overreacting? I don’t believe I was. Even I noticed, I was the only black person in the store. And somehow, this woman needed to straighten every shelf near me no matter where I moved to in the store, the entire time I was there! Every time I looked up, there was that pink sweater… After making sure it was zipped, I even twisted my purse so it was behind my back, several times. But nope, there she was, tidying up the shelf near me. Maybe she thought I was putting things in my “weave“. She did give me a “friendly” “can I get you a cart…? Are you still doing OK?” here and there. When I finally did get In line, (I know, I know, but I was not leaving my goods! It took me two hours to fill up that cart!)guess who had to use the phone, right up front. (Rolling my Eyes to the back of my head) Not just her though, her manager made his way up there too. Gotta protect the goods, in case the black lady tries to run out with the cart!! Blatant racism. Do better employees of world market on Orchard, in Southlands. At least don’t be so obvious when you’re profiling. NOTE: The much older lady at the checkout stand was just a dear. Very...
Read moreI had a terrible experience today that was totally unnecessary and left me with a very bad taste. This is very unfortunate as I like the variety that the store offers and have been shopping in this location for a few years already.
Amongst the purchases that I made yesterday were two units of the same item. Unfortunately the cashier made a mistake when entering the item count and typed in 22 instead of 2. I noticed the error today and went in store to get the 20 units refunded to my credit card. The cashier that was trying to help me was attentive and tried her best to correct the mistake but she needed the manager to Okay the transaction.
This is where things started going south. The manager took an inordinate amount of time with the receipt to go check something in the back of the store. She was suspicious of what happened the whole time and reluctantly agreed to refund the over charge. Then she asked me for my details on a copy of the receipt as if I was the one in the wrong even though she already has all of that from the receipt and my details from the Rewards program.
Watch out! Always triple check your receipts and be careful you don't seem like a robber and not a shopper...
Read moreI’ve never been to a World Market before, but now I’m hooked! They had so much super cute boho and mid century modern decor! Perfect for furnishing my new home! They had a lot of candles and vases and high quality fake plants. They also have some really nice pots for your real plants! The prices were very reasonable too. The store is huge with so much to offer. They literally have everything you need for a home. The back of the store has an impressive selection of imported snacks and treats from all over the world. The shopping experience was so calming (almost therapeutic lol). The staff was very kind and helpful too. They have a good rewards...
