I recently had the pleasure of attending a chest, back, and abs class at Barry’s, with the instructor Josey and it was an experience like no other! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the tone for the session. The studio was immaculate, reflecting their commitment to cleanliness, which made me feel comfortable and safe. Our instructor was nothing short of amazing—motivating and charismatic, Josey brought an infectious energy to the class that kept us all engaged and pushing our limits. His personalized encouragement made everyone feel like part of a team, and it was truly uplifting to see classmates cheering each other on throughout the workout. The music selection was perfectly curated, driving the intensity and keeping our spirits high. It was impossible not to get lost in the rhythm while working up a sweat! Overall, the seamless customer experience, combined with the supportive community and high-energy atmosphere, made this class a standout. I left feeling accomplished and excited for my next session. If you’re looking for a challenging workout that also feels like a celebration, I highly recommend checking out Barry’s and speak with Lucas who truly set the tone for my Barry’s experience!

Barry's is undoubtedly the best place to go for an amazing HIIT workout. The environment, lights and music are energizing and motivational, and the classes are well-structured, efficient and effective. But the difference between Barry's and other places is the instructors and staff, and their philosophy that Barry's is more than just a gym -- it's a community. A community of kind, caring people. Every single instructor at Barry's Austin is not only the best at what they do, they are also quality humans that take a sincere interest in not just your health and fitness progress, but also in you as a person. In addition to getting in the best shape of my life, I'm thankful to have made many connections with quality people at Barry's, including not only instructors and staff, but also other members. Barry's Fitfam is one of their taglines, and everyone takes it to heart. I went to Barry's for a great workout, but I also found a great community :)

I had never been to a Barry’s studio before and started at the South Lamar Austin Barry’s pop-up studio last year. Since day 1, I have had an amazing experience every single time I have showed up to class. They always welcome you with a friendly hello and smile, and never forget to say bye when walking out! Also, the new downtown location on 2nd street is so clean and has the best amenities (fresh towels, beautiful locker room, and of course, a smoothie bar)! You really can’t go wrong once you become a Barry’s regular. The instructors get to know you and always know how to pick you up! Special shout-out to Kenzie, Annette, Kolbie, Josey, and Brandon! Y’all gotta take all of their classes! PS - The Barry’s & Brunch smoothie is the absolute GOAT of smoothies! :)

New years resolution is to shout out the places that really go all out.

Barry's Austin is the only gym I've been able to consistently commit to and want to show up at. Is it expensive? Yes, but you get what you pay for. Ask anyone who comes to class consistently and they will tell you: it's worth it. The classes not only burn calories but help you actually build muscle.

The trainers are all fantastic and everyone is a little different, but that's what makes it fun:

Brandon: Focuses on technique, form, and progression all while making you laugh. I definitely prioritize his lift classes whenever I can. Josey: The best playlists and is the most experienced when it comes to Barry's. His dance moves are almost as beautiful as his singing voice. Phillip: Makes you work muscles you didn't know existed. His motivational mantras have gotten me through some of my hardest days. Christen: The sweetest dominatrix you'll ever have the pleasure of training with. She'll smile while she tells you to run one more sprint and you can't help but run faster because she truly believes in you. Al: Makes it a point to get to know each and every person that walks through those doors and somehow still makes everyone feel individually special. Need to work on your ass? Take his Thursday class. Cait: She has the timing and rhythm down to a T. Her workouts feel like a choreographed dance and it goes by so quickly. If it's your first time - I highly recommend you take her class! Kenzie: I can't say enough about how amazing this gorgeous woman will make you feel before, during, AND after your workouts. She has a background in dance so her stretches always help in reducing cramps. She mixes up the sequence and exercises so that it never feels repetitive.

Haley and Bailey make a fantastic duo running everything and ensuring smooth guest interactions. They do fun pop-ups all the time like No Shower Happy hour where you can grab a cocktail after class and meet people. The amenities are exactly what you need (this isn't a spa people - it's a gym). They have Ouai products, Dyson hair dryers, hair/body products, fresh towels. You can order a protein shake before class and it'll be ready right when you pop out.

I love this studio and am looking forward to more classes, laughs, and health...

For Barry's corporate please do not contact me regarding this review.

UPDATE:

Several instances had happened at this location when I come in to workout:

Recently bullying to other members regarding who spots its assigned to
this has been become concerning such saying “you took T12 that’s my spot
or You took F19 that’s my spot, etc.” Childish behavior has been observed as members are unable to adapt to being flexible to which spot they want to be assigned to. I hear you but understand you can’t have everything YOUR WAY!

7/13/25 an incident happened where a member kicked my waterbottle underneath the treadmill and caused me to fall off. No front desk staff member was able to resolve the issue since it takes 15 minutes for front desk to get someone to grab my water bottle and temporarily move me to another treadmill. This could have been prevented in moving me to another treadmill spot quickly than waiting for 15 minutes which wasted my class time. A Member there builled me stating it wasn't a big deal and senses it was not an issue at all and cares about himself and not for others.

another instance was around this time last year when another member forced me to switch spots with them during a free class when it was sold out without checking in with front desk.

These events both are reasons why I will not come back to Barry's Austin. The instructors did their duties the front desk is held at responsible for their actions not handling the situation in a professional manner.

Lastly, compensating credit to say sorry has become a mental health issue to me. It’s time for me to exit the Barry’s Austin.

Note: This negative review will stay posted. Barry’s corporate please do not contact me on removing or discussing on this post I have your emails set to...

So the manager Michelle lies up in my face and says that I took someone’s spot yesterday while she knows that I have asked her if I can be on the treadmill and she answered in a rude commanding way that I would need to be in my spot even though she never asked me when I booked the class if I want to be on the floor or treadmill. She comes a few times during the class and she sees that I was in my spot the whole time. Her lying is not acceptable. Josey G puts his foot on my bench and talks to me in a rude threatening rude way because I took the weight from the bench next to me by mistake (he said in a very rude way I need to put the weights down or I have to leave) he is very rude and of course I put the weights right away ( I should have preserved my dignity and threw the weights in his face and left the class instead 😂😂😂😂). He goes and makes a complaint about me. This rude treatment is not acceptable and I don’t want to go to a place where their employees lie and rude and disrespectful. I’m going to leave a review on every website I can about Barry’s rude liar employees. What happened today is not acceptable I’m not a kid to get treated this way and lie in my face or maybe you are discriminating because I don’t look very white. I don’t see a valid reason why would Michelle lie this way other than discrimination. Josey G putting his foot on my bench is a very disrespectful. I will not let it slide. The manager holy could care less and she screamed in my face as well. This studio is nice to you the first time you are there to get your business then they start abusing you and insulting you and threatening you and they could care less. Do yourself a favor and...
